AP Asks If Obama Is "Obnoxiously Articulate" http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ari-melber/ap-asks-if-obama-is-obnox_b_322256.html Seriously, AP? I actually find this quite insulting; Are they suggesting that Bush's speech capabilities are preferable over Obama's? Left or Right, you can't deny that Obama's a hell of a speaker, and to be complaining about it is just ridiculous. Having someone who presents himself well working in the Oval Office is something we should be proud of. Yes, I'm aware this is a Huffington Post article, so it's got its biases, but the point is solid and still remains. It seems the United States doesn't value education as much as it should, and it's kind of astonishing how dumbed down our media and populace is.
Intelligence and speaking skills are a bad thing now? I'm not sure this is a world I'm comfortable with any more.
Choosing between a Human and two robots hooked up to control station, earpiece and teleprompter? Let me think… I choose Human.
Since when is being well spoken and educated obnoxious? Surely the was Bush acted and thought was the worse of the two?
well, he is the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.
Bush and Obama probably had the same amount of teleprompter usage. Plus, not every speech i've seen given by Obama was done with a teleprompter. Also, Barack Obama was the president of the Harvard Law Review, and partook in a number of other educational and scholarly pursuits throughout his career; arguably more than Bush did (no offense intended; this is researched through Wikipedia).
Being articulate, educated and well spoken should be considered POSITIVE qualities... what the hell is wrong with people?
The result of people having been brought up in a culture that doesn't promote and nurture such qualities, with that follows the very mindset you're witnessing. I don't know what else to say.
This fear of intellectuals is, quite frankly, worrying. This is what lead to the election of Dubya in the first place, and it leads to a mistrust of science and research that is holding us back. The level of state funding of research is paltry in the UK (I don't know about the US). It also gives power to those that promote ignorance and stubborness, over curiosity and enquiry. I can understand it to a certain degree from the average Joe in the Bible belt, but from journalists? It is apalling.
It's going to lead us back into the dark ages in some ways...oh wait it already has in schools in the US.....teaching creationism alongside actual science....
republicans have alan keys.. he's been around quite awhile- even ran for president think the public is so used to bushes antics and having had a vice pres that shoots his friends and the country in the face.. that duo didn't get along with just anyone nice to have someone who can listen, you know he's been around as an activist and went to harvard.. but were still waiting for water to be turned on in the central valley- hopefully next years crops will be around.. alot of things I'd like to see him do in the next 3 years he's still got my ear, want to see him keep some promises an article on how articulate he is.. more like how unlike bush- if your talking with people as the head of anything, you need soft skills.. he has plenty of that.. god bringing up flashbacks of bush is painful XD you could almost see him struggling to comprehend sometimes
Keyes is the first person I ever voted for (presidential primary) and one of the few I never regretted.
