Hi all, I am building my son a gaming PC and was gonna stick in a 5750 card of some kind but I came across this one for only a couple of pounds more. Asus 1024Mb ATi Radeon HD 5770 CuCore PCI-Express VGA Card it seems to be up to spec with most 5770 cards although I cannot seem to find what it's Max Display Mode is, although I am sure it will do 1920/1080p on a 22" screen! Any feed back you can give me on this card would be appreciated Thank's, Cus
It will do 1920x1080. I can't remember what the max res for DVI is off the top on my head, but I think for 30" sort of screens, you have to plug in to two DVI ports to be able to get the resolution. The 5770 should be able to handle most things at 1080 on high'ish settings. You may have to turn a few things down to medium as it is a mid-range card. If you could stretch to a GTX460, which after looking on scan, is only £20 more, that would provide a much better card for 1080 resolutions.
You can find its specs on the asus website here. It's one of the best versions of the 5770 so i'm sure you'll be more than happy with it & as you can see it supports resolutions up to 2560x1600.
1920x1200 is the maximum for single link DVI. Dual-link has a maximum resolution of 2560x1600, or a 30 inch display. Both of these at 60Hz. All graphics cards nowadays come with dual-link DVI ports. I'd also recommend jumping up to the GTX460. Definitely worth the tiny premium Going with the 768MB version of the card is actually going to be cheaper than the 5830, and it will have enough memory
Ah, so one (dual-link) DVI socket will support up to 2560x1600, but over that you'd need another DVI socket.
Thanks a lot guys, I have not been on here for ages but once again you do me proud. thanks again, Cus
