Hi all, I've got an "old" GPU - 3870 TOP by ASUS http://www.bigbruin.com/2008/asus3870_1. I was thinking about change it to something new, for e.g. XFX 5770 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/175978. What do you think? I couldn't find compare of this two, mine is to old for it i guess. Some other propositions? Thanks for any replies. SSN774 P.S. Sorry for my english
Pretty sure the 5770 will eat it alive, although not bad gpus the 3850/70 were never that fast even when new. http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/209/bench/CoD_03.png http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/209/bench/CoH_03.png Yep the 5770 beats a 4870 in many tests, quite a superb gpu for the money. No wonder Nvidia has given up.
About 100% across the board in terms of performance. The HD5770 is that fast. In fact the HD4850 was about 100% faster.
I won't go as far as to say that they were terrible, bad perhaps, and dissapointing, but not terrible. If you wanted terrible look at the HD2xxx, especially the HD2900XT's AA performance.
I won`t agree with your opinion. I`m running GTAIV on 1920x1080 with medium texture, rest high option and 8xAA. Only sometimes it slows down. Rest of my specs aren't incredible: Intel 2180 @3.0Ghz OCZ 4 Gb Reaper 800Mhz DFI P35-T2RS. What about NVIDIA, nothing from them? 260`s or something? By the way, thanks for replys
a 9600gt was nearly better than all of the 3xxx seris in most test only the 3870x2 beat it some times and that was £275 compared to a £110 so i class that as very bad
It makes you wonder how AMD got from possibly the worst series ever to quite possibly the best series ever in one leap.
The HD2900 was disappointing, the 38xx was the essentially the fix to the HD2900 and was a great step forward in performance. The only thing that let it down was AA performance and that was fixed in the 48xx. Having said that it is now an old card and performance wise is not a patch on the 5770.
