Hi! I bought a new Asus Ares graphics card and installed a new Hale 90 1000W I tried to run my system with Hale 90, and it worked correctly. When I tried to install the Ares card, it worked. When I wanted to install the drivers, I uninstalled everything that had been with CCC to do, and restarted the computer. Then a red light befan to shine on the Ares and the fan started going to the max, and I got no picture. What should I do? Tried to reset cmos, but still the same. My XFX 5870 is still working. My computer: Antec 1200 Q9550 Corsair H70 XFX Radeon 5870 (/ Asus Ares) 150Gb VelociRaptor 10000rpm Asus P5QD TURBO Corsair Twin2x4096 8500C5 Hale 90 1000W (Link here)
Did you make sure the power connectors are properly hooked up to the card? Also try reseating the card in the slot. Any way to try booting that card in a different machine?
I have tried to pull out and insert the card all the day, and yes, I have hooked up the power connectors properly. I don't have another computer that can confirm my card.
I'm concerned that your Ares might just've imploded, considering the age of it, and the fact that we have an Asus Bloke here on the forum. (Bindi), It might be worth asking around. Try it in another machine, or a different PCI-E slot first, sometimes it's just a weird glitch. Beyond that: I've not a clue, the Red light makes me think Power-loss, but I doubt you're likely to have that issue with around 700 watts for the card alone, accounting for the load of the rest of your rig, got any different PCI-E connectors on the PSU you could try?
Ares is only a year old. It'll be fine. Did you try it on another board or try another graphics card in that PC to see if the board hasn't gone kaput? The P5Q is older than the Ares. Are your 8pin plugs in correctly and you're not using an EPS 12V?
I wasn't trying to imply the card was old, more that it was probably brand-spanking-new, so it should be well within Warranty.
It would be very hard to fit a 8pin EPS 12V into a 8pin PCIe socket?.....Unless you are very special and don't know your own strength, and force it in their...LOL EDIT: Have you made sure all drivers are uninstalled? Use Driver sweeper to clear up all drivers. After you have done that, go into Control Panel/Folder options/View Tab, and then click on show Hidden Files. Now go into C: Drive or which every drive is your OS, and then open up Program Files inculding (X86) if you are using 64bit OS, and delete any ATI folders left over, Then ProgramData and delete any ATi folders in their , then open up User/yourname/AppData/Local and detele any ATI folders in their. Then go into User/yourname/AppData/Roaming and delete any ATI files in their. Now Use CCleaner and run cleaner then use Registry and clean that. Reboot and then install the Nvidia drivers. This should sort out your problem, if not then your card is now a brick/doorstop. Cheers, Simon.
In my experience though a red light on the card during boot with no video is either a power or heat issue. Well with my 4870's and 6950 anyway.
