Looks lovely. One of the least gaudy laptops on the market.

I don't know much about laptops but that looks good to me. Nice spec too for a laptop although not sure how good the 310 GPU is for gaming but at the lowish resolution it should be fine. Also LED LCD should look awesome.

I don't have a use for a laptop but if I did this'd be on my shortlist to chose between.

"Bamboo is better than wood as a sustainable resource because it grows faster and uses more Carbon Dioxide." Trees are carbon neutral. The carbon dioxide they use in their existence goes back into the atmosphere when they die / processed by bacteria / are burned. It doesn't just disappear - if anything, it gets converted to sugars which are far more easily processed back into carbon dioxide by anything living.

I wish they'd thought of sticking a decent gpu in there. The 310's okay, but you're left wanting if it's pitted against recent games. At the very least, a 330'd be a start but it would've been magic with a 335. Dell can put one in the M11X, I'm sure Asus could've made it fit.

The point is more about a sustainable resource though - if you're building say 1M laptops a year using bamboo or wood, then you'll need to chop down a lot of plants. If trees (pine maybe) take ~10 years to mature, that leaves you needing 6 lots more space than the 4 years it takes bamboo to grow. :)

take off the monitor placing and put something sleeker in it's place...
also, to everyone talking about Graphics... this is possibly a jab at how Mac's are usually used at workplaces due to their simplicity and sleekness (seriously I'm being forced to work with a Mac where I'm at) so...
who the hell gives a rat's ass about games?
    seriously, it's a "for-work-and-general-use" type laptop...

if ya want gaming laptops I'm pretty sure you know where to find them

also kenco, my laptop has an 8400m and it still plays all the recent games out there,
at low sure, but it plays them (yes, I'm one of those guys who actually prefer a good storyline over eye-candy)

I prefer a good storyline and the eye candy :) On a budget, too! Got a bargain off eBay - Sony Vaio with 330M for under £550. Able to play Dirt2 with all on apart from AA.

Nicest looking laptop I've seen in a long while, but can it play Crysis 2?

Agreed. I see what borandi is saying though. I once heard someone say that planting trees to offset your carbon footprint is a little like saying that you can help rising sea levels by drinking more water. Most of what you drink returns to the sea, via the toilet.

But nobody is suggesting making laptops from bamboo will reduce carbon dioxide levels, just that it is a material that can be used without producing extra CO2, unlike plastics or metals.
