So I've only ever had onboard sound. I'm getting some SP2200 for the gaming PC and want to treat myself to a nice soundcard to go with it to make the best of Spotify premium. Question being, is there much difference between the respective flavours of Asus sound card? Which one would you reccomend? Given that I'm going from £10 logitech and a cheapo motherboard sound I'm sure just the speakers alone would be a nice upgrade but yes... Which one should I get?
I run my SP2500's off a Xonar DS and its perfect Go for that I'd say And I went from 8 year old Harman Kardon speakers (in which the sub rattled at times ) and onboard sounfd to it, and the difference is staggering!
What slots do you have available for a sound card? I have an ASUS D2X in a PCi-Express x1 slot just above my SLI cards and it works beautifully. The only downside includes the requirement of a floppy power lead, lack of front panel header and also no headphone socket! Otherwise on all other aspects I love my ASUS D2X card.
That was the answer I was hoping for really! I don't fancy spending £100 and I'm sure it'll be a big improvement on my current setup. Cheers! EDIT: Did your DS come with a low profile bracket? Can cover all the respected cards no problem. Thing I'm going to go for the DS though.
No it don't (In Bristolian accent!)... http://uk.asus.com/Multimedia/Audio_Cards/Xonar_D2X/#specifications
