Is this board any good or rather designed worth overclocking in mind? I plan on OC'ing my amd fx 4100 bulldozer from 3.6ghz to 4.5ghz, which from the reviews I have read shouldnt be too diffcult
Yea the EVO's are designed to support overclocking. You'll need the very latest BIOS for maximum compatability http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A99X_EVO/#download
You just need the most recent BIOS. You don't need all the new downloads, although if there are some dated within the last month or two it would be better to use that than the one of the CD. It doesn't really matter though. Put the BIOS on a FAT32 formatted USB stick then plug it in before you boot. Go into the BIOS and use the EZ Flash to update it.
Thanks works a charm, I have one question though, it seems sometimes when I boot my computer up that the computer doesnt go to desktop and stops at the American trends Bios screen thing, instructing me to save new settings in BIOS? whats the reasoning behind this?
