    Hello Guys/Gals,

A buddy refered me to this site to see if you guys could help me.

    Computer
    Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe Bios 1012
    Maxtor 80Gig
    Corsair Ram DDR400
6800 Ultra OC (If I can get it too work )

The problem is that I can't get the MB to reconize the Video Card. I have tried removing (used Driver Cleaner) and reinstalling the Video drivers with no success. I get a video signal and the computer boots up fine.

If you have any ideas let me know.

    Thanks,

    Eric

The computer boots up fine. Under Device manager there is no display driver. The computer dosen't seem to reconize the card. I have tried to reinstall the drivers with no luck.

We installed it in my buddies computer and when the computer booted it noted that there was a new device installed and asked for the drivers to be installed.

    Mine dosen't do that.

Erm..it just won't recognise it as a specific card, and only reads "Primary VGA Adapter" or sommat? What service pack are you running? And, you even reinstalled Windows and it didn't work?? I'm assuming you're running XP, am I correct? Anyway, do other AGP cards work in this system as it is? And, do you have everything set in the BIOS (AGP 8x, Fast Writes ON [someone correct me if I'm wrong, I always leave it set on], correct Aperture size and voltage)? If ALL of that doesn't work, I would either check the power inputs on the card (apparently, this is a rediculously huge problem with the 6800 Ultra's), and reflash your mobo BIOS.

BIOS was updated to 1012 (it would not allow us to update to 1013). The card works perfectly... we tested it in my rig (Check Sig) and it came out fine. We even ran a benchmark and scored a 16k with it. We did not however test my video card in his computer. After i left though he put the 5200 he had been using back in and the same thing started happening with it.

When you right click on the desktop and go to properties... then select settings the card AND his monitor do not show up. Yet both showed up perfectly when the card and monitor were plugged into my rig. I think the board is dying and/or has a bum AGP port.

Its not working correctly... the card is spitting out an image but thats it. When you try to scroll down the computer starts beeping if you scroll to quickly.

im thinking this is a problem with the agp slot then, becuase if the 6800 and the 5200 are having this same problem...if you can try a pci vid card see if his windows is messed up or the agp slot

Probably the mobo. If you have those canned air things, try cleaning out the AGP slot with it. Only thing I can think of.

If a device isn't read correctly in the Device Manager, it's not being read correctly by Windows, and therefore not being used properly...So yes, there is a reason for this post.

I agree, try a PCI video card if you can. The easiest (well, of the two) next step is to format and reinstall Windows. If it still doesn't work, I would try to get an RMA on the mobo.

First... thanks Zephyr for that first part of your post... i wanted to say something along those lines but couldnt get anything nice out. Overall though this issue has been resolved, my friend went and bought a new motherboard and has everything working fine now. Thanks to all that suggested ways for him to try to fix it.
