    Hello,

I'm having trouble switching off my PC. When I shut down from windows, the monitor goes into standby mode, and the motherboard does not switch off fully. All the fans are still spinning on the Radiator and on the GFX card's. The BIOS code is AA on the motherboard at this stage. The only way to switch it off, is to hold the power button for a few seconds.

    Things I have done;

    Cleared any dust away.
    Cleared CMOS.
Rebooted into BIOS and loaded Safe default settings, and loaded into window. (Still the same issue...).
So Cleared CMOS again, and flashed the BIOS to 1305 on both chips.
Rebooted and shut down. (Still the same issue...).
So Cleared CMOS again and unplug the PSU, waited 1min, and plugged it in, and did the same as above. (Still the same issue...).

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Simon.

I tell you, that is annoying as **** when that happens and it has happened to me with some setups. One time it was caused just by plugging in a different monitor. The PC would not shut down properly while that other monitor was plugged in. When I went back to my regular monitor, shutdown was fine.

I think sometimes it can be caused when windows is waiting for some piece of hardware to shut down.

I've also had it happen because of soundcard conflicting with GPU. It used to happen when I had XFI for example.

Boot in safe mode and see if you can shut down the PC from there. If so then you know it's some driver for some piece of hardware....

Installed any new drivers recently? Because that might be the cause.

Yep, I installed the GTX 670 drivers with my simple hack to run them on my GTX 680's.

Turns out it was that, now back on 301.10 drivers. (Just strange that it decided to do that now, even though it's been installed for a while with no issues...).

Anyhow, all sorted now. Thanks for your help Guys! +Rep incoming!:thumb:

    Cheers,

    Simon.
