So Asus are at it? I can't remember who, but I heard that Powercolour had the exclusive rights to 7990? Or are Asus just referring to it as a 7970X2?
Not a mention of 7990, they call it the Ares II Don't see how that's a disadvantage. Fact that it's watercooled means it's likely tamed whatever (inevitable) huge heat amount, they do claim 31 degrees cooling advantage over reference GTX690
It may be a huge amount of money but a dual slot cooler and a 2x7970s opens up a lot of doors in terms of insane gaming rigs in mini towers and even itx builds! Surely pre watercooled is a good thing! ( a hybrid between those that and those that don't )
Yeah this card with that cooler in a ITX case . I think it looks ridiculous, and is that a zip tie in the second picture?
why the it would fit in a bitfenix prodigy without too much hassle, you would just need a beefy power suppl. I believe it is a a zip tie.
Zip tie for the win! in other pics i've seen it looks like there's a 3pin fan connection coming out of it that is looped through that zip tie.
It is on pre-order from OCUK now. A cool £1199, I don't understand the need for 2 of them in one system in one of the pictures. Link
cost is insane does it out perform tri sli 680s or quad sli 670s as thats what you can buy for £1199 its not even competing with a 690 as if you vist ebay you can buy 2 690s for less than it costs.
I'm surprised to see that it uses a closed loop. Most people that would buy this sort of thing would be watercooling anyway, so I would have expected the stock radiator to be detachable (or an optional extra), so that the card could be incorporated into an existing loop. Does look awesome though, even if it doesn;t outperform cheaper setups.
As soon as I get hold of one here I will put it in a Prodigy with P8Z77-I Deluxe You'd think, but nope. In fact, if you look at the market there's less and less high-end cards with blocks already on them because they just don't sell.
