yeah i was hoping to see what it looked like on the inside
Does anyone else see the kind of VHS resemblance at the back of the card, or is it just me?
ATI/AMD still reigns supreme with the price/performance of the ATI Radeon HD 4870x2.
My plan of buying the best at the start and then buying a 2nd one when the price is cheap a year later, again wins the day. I did it with the 8800gtx and now the 4870x2. Total pwnage for 2 years.
PM me for gpu recommendations
still yet to find anything my clocked 3870 cant manage well!
I was expecting A LOT better results for the price, so ya no thanks I pass.
Two butties short of a picnic if you want one of these!
the first page made it look soooooo cool and its got lamer and lamer with every page turn. what kinda cooler does this thing have!?!
I'd buy one jusr cos i can But before that i gptta get my hot tub finished. Depends on what people call disposible income.
While an interesting engineering exercise and status symbol I think I'll just water cool a 295, OC it, and keep a lot more money in my pocket that's left over.

MARS cards are switched. MARS SLI uses 497W vs the MARS @ 373W.
I have bought many Asus cards since Diamond went out of business simply because they are well designed and put the pedal to the metal. The only problem with non-reference designs are that water blocks are difficult to come by and I suspect this will be the same with this expensive card.
These RoG items are marketed to a different crowd where price isn't to important. I would consider buying one of these for my Feeding Frenzy project just because I like things that are different from the run of the mill parts. However, if you wait a few months you can probably get one for 1/2 this price.
How many TFLOPs and memory bandwidth does this card process? The GXT 295 processes 1.8T FLOPs and 220 GB/s. The HD4870X2 does 2.4TFLOPs and 230 GB/s, respectively.
I missed the 4870X2 Crossfire and GTX295 SLI performances in the charts to compare.
bonkers folding power 17k and 35k, but the price of these cards and the lacking performance (drivers should fix that) in some cases not what i would get
did any one notice it uses 2x8 pin Power connectors (would of thought you notices that on front page)
Asus are only making 1000-1500 of these card if i last checked
Hmm, didn't you guys use to test graphics with a core i7 920 at 3719 MHz? What happened to that CPU? And an utterly pointless card is the Mars, I have no idea what justified the 2 in the value or, 8 in the performance for that matter. A card at £1000 that performs so close to 4870x2 should really get a 6 or smth.
I beg to differ. This is a limited series of 1000 cards, I don't think price will drop much if at all over time. Hell, look at the Voodoo 5 6000! You still pay a lot of money if you want to get one of the last 30 that still work.
people with crazy money buy crazy things
waiting on 5800s to see performance vs my current 8800 ultras in sli
Not found a game that can really tax them to this day at the resolution i game at (1,920 x 1,200 on hd tv)
Surely the Performance score should only be for performance? This card as roughly as fast as a GTX 285 and that scores 8/10 for performance, therefore so should this card. Gauging performance vs price is more about value for money, and we have a component score for that (which also takes into account Features such as noise, size etc.)
A 2/10 for Value is, in the words of our own score guide, Terrible. 1/10 would be Pathetic, which we felt was one step too far. After all, the card can play most games at 2,560 x 1,600 with 4x AA. A 2/10 for Value seemed the fairest description to us.
Comes with a free power station to power the beast. I see on the 1st heat graph on p9, you've written 'Mard SLI.' Unfortunately, it seems that's only too true in most cases.
