I order an ASUS S/PDIF module so I can connect my digital amp to my computer. It has an Optical out and Coxial out. The only problem is the connector from it doesn't fit on my S/PDIF pins on my A7V333. The pins on the motherboard are two rows of three pins with the middle pin on top absent. The top and bottom pins on the left are the S/PDIF in from my DVD player. The right bottom and top pins are for S/PDIF out for the module. THe bottom middle pin says +5v. On the cable coming from the module there are three connectors. Two are next to eachother and the other is seperate. The two together are black and brown and the seperate one is red. Does it seem logical to assume that the red wire is the +5v line, brown the ground, and the black one the s/pdif out data line?
I know someone who has just done the same thing. (me) I ordered the optical+coaxial s/pdif out module (once I finally found it at http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/k.asp?action=info&p=25897 ) and discovered the module has just a 4pin connector. Now Im told that the one I need is the coaxial in/out module ( http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/k.asp?action=info&p=34446 ). I really want the Toslink output though. Komplett have agreed to let me return the module even though I have opened the packaging. But since postage was £9 and the module only £12 I'm looking to mod the one I have. Here is a pic of what I have: http://www.team.ru/lab/lab64img/spdif.jpg (Note the 4x1pin strip. This pic: http://www.ocworkbench.com/2002/asus/p4t533/Picture_916_copy.jpg shows the 2x3pin strip that I'll need to solder onto my module, and this pic shows the audio cable connected:http://www.worldpc.ru/obzor/sound/spdif.jpg Of course I'm not just telling you all this for your amusement I'm hoping for some indication as to where I could possibly find the parts I need.
