ASUS United Kingdom is currently hiring to fill a vacancy for the position of a Technical Public Relations Specialist based in our Hemel Hempstead offices.

Job Description:

"As part of the Open Platform Business Group the primary responsibility of the Technical PR Specialist is to work with the UK technology media to secure reviews and coverage on ASUS products. This requires managing a sample review rotation plan, pitching products, dealing with technical questions, and monitoring and reporting on all ASUS and competitor press activity. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and responding to customer reviews, managing end-user forums, working with influential modders, and supporting the wider marketing and PR team internally and at events."

Key Responsibilities include:

• Arrange reviews and features with media partners
• Build and manage relationships with key media partners
• Test and evaluate new products and feedback to HQ.
• Explore new PR and reviews opportunities.
• Become a technical expert on ASUS product lines.
• Support UK press events and consumer/trade shows
• Recruit and manage ASUS advocates to monitor key end-user forums and provide advice and support.

Ideal Skills & Qualifications for potential candidates:

• Degree education (preferable)
• Minimum 1 years’ experience in a Technical Marketing or PR (in-house or agency based) or technology journalism role. A tech journalism background is considered highly advantageous.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Extremely well organized and proactive.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
• Deep technical knowledge and enthusiasm for component PC hardware.
• A passion for PC gaming is advantageous.

Well this looks interesting, it's just a shame that I have no experience in PR.

 

Ryan, is there any chance you could ask your HR a question for me (or even us on the forums)?

Basically, I want to know if there's any possibility at all of working from home. I have a media background in the sense that I write motherboard reviews. I would gladly take a pay hit if it could be done from home, if that would in any way aid the possibility of it happening.

 

You gotta move for the career, guys!

I used to be a journalist too (HEXUS/bit-tech) and that was my first thought, I wanted to work from home but it isn't an option I'm afraid. You may be able to negotiate working from home a day (or two at a push) a week but really the job requires you to be in the office to manage samples/stock and there's a lot of coordination with other staff members and such.

 

Aww, that's such a bummer!! No good for me.

 

I have been a tech journalist for six years. I am the founder of overclockerstech(dot*(com) have worked with and for DFI Lanparty and Universal abit. In addition I have been fortunate enough to have the Universal ABIT Overclocking champion 2006 award and placed second in the gigabyte GOOC contest in 2010.

I also hold a PRINCE 2 Project management qualification

I was once part of a team including Oscar Wu, Jarry Chang, Jimmy Su whom worked on the DFI Lanparty series and references of such CAN be provided!

I am also the gentleman whom used to work for Lamptron whom came up with the idea for the FC10 SE and helped a little with the design of.

Currently I 'rep' for Innovation Cooling IC-Diamond so I would like to think my knowledge of technical hardware is extreme.

I am willing to relocate from Yorkshire also.

Satisfactory references can be supplied from DFI (whom still make server boards) Innovation Cooling, Lamptron, HBT+ and many other manufacturers.
