Is it possible to get some kind of converter, so I can go from ATA to USB 2? I have this crazy idea about bulding my own portable HDcase. Maybe a case with 2 disc's..... :D

There are available some converters which allow you to mount a bare IDE HDD unit and then plug it into a USB port.
Allows convenient hot-swapping of discs in Windows.

The units normally come with a separate PSU to power the HDD.

The one I have so far has worked on a number of new (Segate 200Gb) & old (Seagate 1Gb & Quantum 3.2Gb) discs.
