    Hi Everyone Again,

Another quick question, I got a 1gb 4870 which i dont want to get rid of yet as i have nearly spent alot of money on computer parts at the minute and i cant stretch to buying a new one exspecilly when the rumours of a new ATI series coming soon. However it does make a bit of a racket when it is stressed for a long period of time.

So I would like to improve the cooling of it so i can keep it until the next series of cards are out, ive got £60 set a side to improve the cooling of the card. Ideally I could add it into my watercooling loop however i am having trouble finding a waterblock for it.

I have found one on specialtech, i have got an EK HF Supreme Full Nickel CPU waterblock, so i would really like to keep the GPU block nickel as well. The one on specialtech says it is nickel and acetal which would be great but the picture seems to show that it is copper inside; does anyone have any experience with this block? Would this cause a problem?

Also does anyone know anywhere else that sells 4870 full cover water blocks or know an alternative solution??

    Many Thanks In Advance

The nickel is a plating, it's cosmetic, same with your cpu block, the nickel is only a plating to make it look silver, underneath it's copper. If you look at this thread you'll see that the potential difference between nickel and copper is very low and so corrosion shouldn't be a problem.

don't worry about mixing copper and nickel no issue, just water cool that card and it will be great. It is a reference card right?

Nothing beats watercooling for getting rid of the racket GPUs make! :)

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for your comments. I got a XFX 1gb 4870 with the standard reference cooler/design I believe, so i shouldnt have any problems with fitting it.
