Thats awesome. I'm not a Ati fanboy (neither nvidia) but this might pull me right into Ati's camp...

I would love to see the "panic" faces of the nvidia cards programmers now...
Really i do want to see their faces. Pics anyone?

    :D

you'd hope so, I wouldn't want to try to run AA+HDR at any decent res on a single card

Man, why does Oblivion have to be so damned pretty. My poor 6600 is no match for this game...

Note: That screen at XS is stunning :eeek:

Its good to know this has finally been fixed. From the reading I've been doing on the old morrowind forums I used to frequent, it sounds like Bethesda blocked the use of AA and HDR for no good reason, even though it was perfectly possible to use the two.

Not that I care, I build a brand new £500 PC and it was totaly and utterly humbled(and by that I mean pwnz0red) by Oblivion. Still, high res texture packs are next on the list, and then, I think, for a while, Oblivion will look perfect :D

Its a "Nvidia: the way its meant to be played" title isn't it ? so its not too surprising that they left out a feature that only ATI cards have.

Frankly, regardless of corporate sponsership, they shouldn't be gimping stuff. I mean, they don't bypass pixel and vertex shaders, passing the load over to a CPU, for ATI cards do they? That'd be wrong, so why is it ok for them to block(and they did block it) the HDR+AA thing? Personally I think that was a seriously lame thing for bethesda to do, although nodoubt it was more the parent companies choice then theirs.

I heard that nvidia has a deal with Bethesda to block the AA+HDR feature (esp. for ATI cards) cause they (nvidia) want to use it for promo of there geforce 8...
They prob. want(ed) to pull something like "Hey, buy the new geforce 8 an be able to play oblivion with all the goodys!OMG FRIGGIN AWSOME BUY BUY BUY!
    (to boost sales a bit)

    But that's just a rumor...

I thought the rumor was that Ati was planning to Doublecrossed Nvidia, by letting Nvidia believe that Bethesda blocked the AA+HDR feature for Ati. Orignaly Ati wanted to strike down the GF8 promotion, by quicky let Bethesda enable the AA+HDR on the Ati cards and then tell anybody who wants to know that you dont need a expensive GF8 at all to play oblivion in AA+HDR, but can do it with a cheaper Ati card.

But that's just a rumor too...

To be honest I think it was more of a perfornace issue. Most people are still using one gfx solutions and even with a top of the line gfx card most systems struggle. Imagine if bethesda released the game with HDR+AA as standard? There would be noobs crying out everywhere "oblivion is an unoptimised POS!!!oneoneone", all because they dont want to take a graphics hit by turning off the option not to mention the spamming on the tech suppore forums on bethesda's site. I think they would have released a patch down the line when 2 gfx cards are in the majority of systems.

Or maybe they toyed with they toyed with the idea during development but scrapped the idea because of the reasons above, So instead of re-writting code they just disabled that part of it?
