probaly a really lame question, but it is OK to put the latest 5.9 ATI drivers onto my laptops Mobility x700? Only asking because on the ATI website they have a section for Laptop graphics cards, but the little tool that checks said mine wouldnt support it?

Okay, I just tried to install them and it said "Sereve - inf error Video driver not found", then it said in a different box "Setup was unable to complete the install, try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup"..and wouldnt let me install it? Ideas?

if you can't pass that, then i don't know how you can update. there may be a 3rd party site with the actual driver *looks*

i believe its the driver that gets downloaded with the updater thing (haha technical..), but implemented into the desktop version of the Cat 5.9 CCC :)

Might work. Personally, with 5.8, I got hold of DHModTool 2.2 and modded the standard drivers - on reboot it seems to be working 100%. I'm just trying to find where I d/l the dhmodtool from!

    Ah, here we go..

Just to confirm, I've just installed Cat5.9 (the full desktop version) on my lappy (acer aspire 1672wmli - ati 9700) using dhmodtool 3.

Okay, CCC says "you dont have permission to use this program", i tried reinstalling it and then even making another account to try. The account i use is the only one on the laptop and is set to admin. ideaS?
