Graphics ATI Graphics 5850 or 5870

    Finally decided on my CPU and motherboard, now onto GPU.

    Looking at spending about £200 give or take a few quid.

    Looking at ATI 5850 and 5870, don't know if anyone's had experience of these?

    I'm open to any Nvidia suggestions as well.

    For info, planned build so far:

    CPU - Intel i7 860

    Motherboard - Asus P7P55D Deluxe

    5850 will be near your budget but good luck finding one.

    Be after christmas I would imagine.

    Scan had 5850's in stock last week (out of stock now), but because of the scarcity price had jumped to ~£235.

    The 5870 is considerably more than £200 (more likely to be ~£300).

    You could save a bit of cash going for i5 750 instead of 1156-socket i7s. Anyone else got any thoughts on this?

    I think i7 on 1156 is daft but there is a whole other thread on it :p

    The i7 860 is on 1156, but all the other i7's are on 1366

    Shouls be able to get one for the start of December, and not a bad price either...

    Decided to go for the Asus5870 in the end. Hopefully getting it before Christmas as well :D
