Well i was thinking of getting ATI Radeon 1900 and xtx so i can do crossfire and what not. Then this guy showed me Nvidia 1gb one and it was cheaper. He said it's all on paper but the actual performance you won't see a difference. And yes i do want to save money and i want directx10. So which should i get? Also im gona be waiting for dx10, and which card will be coming out first? I heard something about dx10 card coming out in november.

My personal thought is to see ATIs response to the G80 before you decide, since it may be much more powerful and you will regret jumping on DX10 early. I would wait until both sides get into competition that drives prices down a bit.

if u do end up dumpin that dough on a card b4 dx10, i would say go with the x1950xtx...this site did a comparo against the gx2 if i remember correctly, and felt like the overall gaming experience was better with the 1950...

Yes, I agree that the x1950xtx gives you a generally better gaming experience, it outperforms a GX2 in most games.

    I wouldn't buy either 7950 GX2 or X1950XTX ;) :naughty:

/me wonders if Tim is subtly trying to say "I'm testing something newer and faster that I can't tell you about yet" ? ;)

I would wait till ATI will release his R600, then the battle between ATI and Nvidia will begin and there will come out wich one is the best.
But if you buy a gpu i would prefer the cards form ATI, they are more innovating than Nvidia and the cards have more pixel shaders.

success with making your choice :thumb:

It's worth waiting a week or so and seeing how the G80 compares to current gen hardware. It's certainly VERY quick but we've yet to see any real world tests to see exactly how quick it is in games.
R600 is slated for early 07 afaik and is roumered to be quicker than G80. If you can hold out til then its probably the best option. The G80 should be cheaper by then too, even if the ATI card holds the performance crown.

Little OT, Tim have been reading snippets in the news that G80 might not be a "true" unified arcitecture due to it having to run DX9 and DX10, are you able to comment at all?
