I just upgraded from an ATI Radeon 9200 to the 9800 PRO. The 9200 had no problems. With the 9800 at startup, the page from ABIT has bars, the CMOS page has bars and is unusable, and Windows is distorted to the point of being unrecognizable.

    The system:

    ABIT AI7 Motherboard
    512 MB RAM
    550 Watt PSU

I've used the VGA, Digital, and S-Video outputs and all have the same issue. I've taken out all PCI devices (TV Tuner, Sound Card, Modem) and have the same issue.

    Any suggestions?

    Obviously not good....
    - Have you checked that the card is properly seated in the AGP slot?
Is the power connector plugged in and secure on the card?
Also, have a look at the heatsink on the card - is it on properly?
(There should be 2 plastic pins that push through the card to hold it on... Check 1 of those hasnt slipped through)

My 9800 pro recently did this, but that was after a bad BIOS flash! (Now fixed)

It's possible that the card is dead on arrival, but it would be worth trying the card in another PC if possible.....
    Good luck dood!

Overheating, bad power supply (doubt it since the system worked 100% before) or damaged card/GPU core.

Make sure the Heatsink is sitting flush with the GPU core

Well the 9800 needs more juice than a 9200.
