I have had this card for years now. I am planning on making a new comp with a BFG GeForce 7900GTX OC but for now my radeon card has a bad fan that worked fine up until last year. The temps are 85+ idle and probably a littel higher laoded. ANy ideas?

    :O turn it off!

Then get something like an arctic silencer, not sure what country you're in so I can't recommend a supplier

Have a look around newegg or somewhere for a new cooler, it shouldn't be that expeisive. You do realise you'll probably kill the card if you game with it with no fan :|

Trust me its been off for a long time. Probably out of warranty. I tried taking the fan off but I didn't ever get it off. And risking breaking my only comuter and a once $500 GC and killing my only computer was unsettling.

One quick question. I can't push my monitor above 1280x1024 the monitors reports ddc settings max 1920x1280 but I can't get my card to go past 1280x1024 im using the ati standard display settings in windows. Any ideas?

Does your monitor actually support resolutions above 1280*1024? That's usually the problem. With my CRT, the slider goes all the way to its (and my graphics card's) max res of 2048*1536.

well I used Catalyst and got it up to higher esolutions but they aren't sqaure anyway my monitor won't respond above 1280x1024 no matter that is pretty much the best resolution for working.

I second the Arctic Cooling fan suggestion. I've still got a couple of 9800 Pro's with those on 'em, and I've never had a problem ;)

What size/make/model monitor are you using btw?
