dammit, I hate the control center, and i know alot of you feel the same way.

I'm sending an email of complaint about the lack of a non-control center version, i hope u all follow suit, if ATI realise there is demand for the old style UI i see no reason why the wont realse it also.

i prefer the non-control center too but i dont care that much, hardly ever in the control panel

edit: i still see a 'display driver only' option on the download page... ?

Hmm.. I hated CCC back when I used ATI cards. You think it'd be GPU accelerated, but NO, it has to be all super-CPU-slow. It seemed a bit harder to naviate IIRC, but it's been a while and it may have changed since anyways.

Good idea, poor execution, if you ask me. The good thing is that you don't have to trawl through there every day in most situtations.

just a week ago I traded my X1800XT because of driver problems for a 7800GTX. Now they come out with a driver. Man ATi is right here in my backyard and they cant even give me a head up. I would have kept that card with 512mb of fast gamein, enblaing such things like Ultra high quality in Q4. Oh I hate my self for not staying with that card.

I too hate the CCC. I use the Omegas because of that. They seem to give roughly the same performance, heck, they're based on catalysts. But they come without the horrific CCC, which is all many of us want.

They're generally one version behind, but if you can handle that, you get the ability to have a better overall driver, and no CCC crap.

CCC should be a bit faster when the drivers move to .NET framework 2.0 in the next couple of months. .NET framework 1.1 is a little slow, and that's what's limiting CCC.

Heh, CCC feels like its a damn java app or something. Can we assume that ATI have no intention of improving the situation, other then by relying on optimisations and improvements to .net?

They have improved it since the first incarnation - it's not too bad once you get into it now. When it first came out, it was really laggy when you were in the control center, now it's only a wait to get the thing to come up. I've had no issues using it in all honesty. The load time could be improved, but that's down to .NET framework IMHO.

I use Ati Tray Tools with just the display drivers, it works a treat.
Ati Tray Tools has a great UI, excellent overclocking facilities etc.
It's definitely a bit more complex than CCC, but if you don't know what an
option is for - don't touch it
My x800xtpe is loving it by the way.
Anyone using Ati Tray Tools with success?

Is it just me, or does the 3d refresh override function not work correctly? Where's the reg setting for me to do it myself?
