I want 6 of these cards for christmas, 2 for me to use, and 4 to sell to buy a new gaming rig, and an xbox360, and still have enough leftover to buy trinkets for the family.

    Dear ATI,

Why dont you try actually shipping existing hardware, before trying to ship more vapourware. Or perhaps, concentrate on your half assed attempt at multi GPU technology.

'tis a shame. Too expensive, too little, too late IMO.

As much as I hate NVidia cards, I'm stuck with them until ATi pull their fingers out...(planned upgrade for mid 2006 involves an expensive SLi setup - fingers crossed that ATi can redeem themselves in time).

    Dear nVidia:

Why don't you get GTX 512s out? The odds of getting two are similar to winning the lottery.

And by the way, Mad Mod Mike needs help. The mermaid from the 6 series was better.

    Kind Regards,
    A gamer.

No longer need to have two 'similar' cards as you put it. Any old two GTX 512s can in theory be paired :)

I love the way that both ATI and Nvidia have 'released' products yet they are completely unavailable... reminds me of the good ol' days

I also love the way Nvidia managed to get about 6 cards in stock for the launch day so it didn't look like another paper launch...

I also love the fact that by the time x1k series cards eventaully appear, R580 will be literally a month or two away...

Boy do I have a lot of love to give tonight :D

AFAIK, you can actually buy the Radeon X1800XT. That's one thing you can't do with GeForce 7800 GTX 512 at the moment.

But the difference is Nvidia deliberately are reducing the supply of 512s, arent they?

And an amendum to my post above, after using Crossfire yesterday, I really really wish ATI would sort it out. Half assed is an overstatement.

They were, but they aren't even managing to ship 4000 a week like they said they would. There was a new core revision a while ago, which had problems running at 490MHz, nevermind 550MHz. That would explain why there was a drop in availability of the higher clocked GTX 256MBs, like the XFX Extreme Gamer Edition. I don't know when we'll see the GTX 512's available at a respectable price...

NVIDIA just tell me that they're in high demand - that's fair enough, but they're not managing to ship any of the 4000 they expected to deliver each week. They blamed Samsung because the 1.1ns memory is in short supply. If that is the case, I feel that NVIDIA made a mistake choosing 1.1ns memory when 1.2ns memory is widely available. They knew that 1.1ns memory was new, and it's a bit off the mark to blame Samsung when new high speed memory is always in short supply for a few months after it enters mass production. As is the case with any silicon, it takes time for yield to build up to acceptable levels.

Sounds like NV took a leaf out of ATIs book, not the other way around :(
