interesting......i wonder how it will all trun out..but tis true maybe its abit too early to launch new products..

    i have a request for a upcomming article/review piece.

as im in a prime mid-card market i would like a head2head of the mid-range cards avail or upcomming(first quarter 06') and see what's the best option avail to us £100-200 mark people.

if they do they will have to drop the prices of the cards they just released dramtically... which will enrage those that spent $500 on a new card and will want to upgrade again in 3 months... ahahahaha... n00bs

well ati are getting slightly owned by nvidia at the high end at the moment and as the whole 5800ultra - 5900ultra -5950ultra spectical showed "enthusiasts" are prepared to buy a new card every 3months.

FFS get the R520s to market first, then concentrate on some new material. Crossfire master cards are becoming vapourware.

I'm figuring ATI could be concentrating on the XBox 360 market as they have a chance to sell a lot of gpus, you have to admit this hasn't been the best of all years for ATI. However the profit they make from Microsoft using ATI for their graphics cards is questionable.

I do think their prices need to go down, even the 9800 pro cards are overpriced imo.

To be honest ATI cant use that excuse, the Xenon design was completed months ago and signed off to MS, once it was signed off ATI have no more involvment with the Xenon chip.

But what ATI should do is bring the Xenon chip to the PC within months if possible, since its at least 2 - 3 gens ahead of anything else iirc Then see where nVidia stand :)

    Shouldn't this be 'f'?

2nd: ATI really try to throw 6 or 7 different GPUs on the market? Like 1 for <=100€, 1 for <=200€, 1 for <=300€, 1 for... you get the idea... but wtf?
Oh and by the way sure ATI... sure....

Can R580 blast NVIDIA's GeForce 7800 GTX 512 into oblivion?

Answer: Sure, its newer hardware so of course it will more than likely out perform older hardware. This holds the same in many 1v1 corporate business strategies, if you don't believe me take a look at the ps3 vs xbox. All ATi has to do is slap on another heatsink raise clock speeds and label it as new product then all nVidia has the time in that gap to release a new gpu and the cycle continues.

Edit: Everyone benefits from this strategy, well except ATi users cause we all know how impossible it is to get a crossfire setup. :wallbash:

LoL false advertising, iirc nVidia had the 512 7800 off the shelf before you could even get ahold of x1800 XT, and wtf is with GPU makers and using the letter X lately.

Does this mean you're the only person able to use 100% of Blue Gene's power just because you're typing faster than it can handle? :p

    Hopefully USB 2.0... :)
But, ehrm... something different: You got any idea when you'll get your hands on some R580's? Or R505's or whatever?
And what about a big mid- to high-range gfx cards compare article? I know... a damn whole lot of work... but would be nice to see like from 6600 GT to 7800 GTX 512 all on one single article. See this as a wish on my X-Mas list. :D

It all depends on the time scale, but I don't have a lot of the hardware anymore :(

R580 - (I assume, and hope) we'll get one before they launch so that we can bring you a review on the day that they are launched.

This sounds okay to me... even tho it's obvious now you ain't Santa. ;)
Well then I'll have to buy all the gfx cards myself plus an uber rig and test it myself. Anyone got like 20k for me?

Hey bigz I know you probably can't say much, but hows it looking on the nvidia side? Can you give any hints as to what nvidia's road map is? or at least if we are looking at the same time frame for the next series of nvidia cards?

And I thought the original run of GeForce FXs had a short lifespan. ;)
