Hello everyone, been lurking for a while here and I'm finally posting my first build log!

Here is a link of my last build (no log) in case you're curious!

My new build we also be built using makerbeams with a compact and stealth monochrome aesthetic.

    Parts:
    CPU: i5-6600k [Delidded]
    MB: Asus Z170-A
GPU: Zotac 980 ti AMP! Omega
    Heatsink: Raijintek Pallas Black
    PSU: EVGA 1050 GS
    Ram: HyperX Fury DDR4
    SSD: 850 EVO M.2

The goal of this build is to compact full size hardware into as small a case as possible without compromising on (cooling) performance and at the same time have a sleek industrial design.

At this point I still don't have my PSU and GPU and I'm making the best of dimensions provided online, this prototype would probably reformed multiple times before the final build

makes everything so much easier: a caliper!

basic components: (different lengths) stealth black aluminum beams, (various) brackets, nuts and bolts, standoffs

Well you have my attention. I have a MakerBeam starter set gathering dust and I am toying with the idea of building a Mini ITX system with the new tech.

    Good modding,

It's easy and fun! I would definitely recommend it!

PS: PSU is supposedly arriving tmr, and my 980 ti G1 is probably getting here next week!

it's all coming together... sans GPU

I'm still missing some components for the case iteself (brackets, etc) and of course the GPU, though I should have everything by the end of next week!

    It's alive!

Added more to the frame and currently stress testing my 4.8Ghz OC! great bin!

    Edit:
4.8 did not work over long periods unfortunately, back to 4.7 but still a lot better than the 4.5 for an average skylake cpu!

While waiting for parts I delidded my 6600k! The pallas is decent for its size but it's still a low profile cooler and can't beat out dual towers or water cooling. This is of course all in an effort to sustain my maximum OC! will try to increase clocks again! (my first delid btw, glad I didn't wreck it!)

    razor delid!

    all cleaned up!

The funny thing is my CLU isn't here yet either.... so can't seal it back just yet...

my tube of CLU finally arrived! asfter some careful pasting and putting my CPU back together... it's alive again!

Max temps in IBT High 10 loops went from ~94c to ~74c!

Yeah, delidding really helps with thermals. This allows me to go into full OC mode on a low profile cooler without worrying about frying my CPU!

while waiting for my other building materials, I have been toying with another layout! The specific models are just placeholders to show the layout. Though my ideal compnents for this layout would be:
    • Be Quiet! Dark Rock TF (Beautiful, dark, & effective and just the right heaight)
    • Be Quiet! Dark Power 11 1000W/1200W (High power for SLI and OC, matches the cooler!)
    • Asus 980ti/Fury Strix (2 "wings" on the backside of the rig)
    • EVGA Z170 Cheesecake (All black sleek MB)
Again, going for a dark, clean aesthetic. I havealready plotted out routing of the PCIE ribbons, and it shouldn't be a problem. This would be expensive though, so ideally for a sponsored build!

Layout might bite you in the way of SLI. They don't make extended SLI bridges, and I seem to remember someone having trouble getting a custom made one to work properly.

was just playing around and came up with this for a single card rig

FYI: the final product won't be just the frames! it would have walls, plates and panels!

Got my hands on a temporary non G1 980 ti and put the whole thing together!
    front
    [IMG]
    cool bottom up angle
    [IMG]
    all the ports

The pci-e ribbon will be sprayed black (can arrives tmr!) I made some minor changes in alignment that made the form a more correct rectangle instead of a trapezoidal. All 8 corners were replaced by corner cubes to make the right angles more accurate, and I changed out the MB standoffs for slightly shorter ones. The GPU is very securely held, doesn't really wobble even when you try to shake it.

All this can be taken apart if I wanted to for a new layout, and nothing is really final untl I have designed and ordered the plates and walls for the rig! hope you are enjoying watching this so far!

Edit: I will work on cable management more later!

Edit: just found out the ribbon broke... waiting on replacement now...

Edit: Ordered a 980 ti AMP! Omega by Zotac instead of the G1! should arrive in a few days!

new layout! pretty sure this is the one I'm going with. Went from 20L down to 16L, pretty nice for a full ATX OC rig! I test fitted the windforce card in there already, and according to my measurements the monster zotac 980 ti should too! (it supposedly arrives tmr) Also added the front panel IO, gonna paint the PCIE ribbon once my gpu gets here and I can test it.[IMG]
meanwhile I already tested the plasti dip on a broken ribbon, and the result looks great!

    good news and bad news...
good news, my 980 ti is here!

    ~310mm x 120mm x 55mm
it is HUGE like trump HUGE.... its as big as the strix but much thicker, so much so that I couldn't fit it in my case.... but that's not the bad news

bad news is that my mobo decide to **** itself after a bios update and died... RMA is probably gonna take 2 weeks or so...

but since I had to take everything down I get a shot at the skeleton. It's no longer 16L, it's now 18L to accomodate my frankenstein of a card!

Also, I ordered new high quality pcie risers from li heat! they cost quite a bit more, but their quality is unbeatable (I used their risers in my last build!)

Could you have made a raised spot in the case panel for the larger card instead of making the frame bigger?
