ok, done. Have added a second fan to the radiator and a fan dragging air into the case at the top of my case where there are 3 spare fan positions.

Ran Prime95 with case on for a few mins... 69 degrees was the highest I got. Success!

Although I did sneak my voltage reaching 1.35v. May give manual overclocking a go again.

    Thanks for your help guys!

you could simply set 1.35v as vcore

likely hood is it would be stable

hmmmmmmmm i still think a stock h60 should never have been that high to start with.

are you sure it is seated fine? i fear you may have masked the problem instead of fixing it

    or

maybe you did fix it and im being retarded. i dunno

I will keep an eye on it for sure.

How do I stop it going above 1.35? Seems to fluctuate on it's own. Is there a BIOS setting in the asus bios?

70 on a sandybridge with watercooler does seem high. The temps on my oc'd q6600 don't get above 70, with my intel cooler fans at 60% max. And consdering your temps have only gone down 1degree switching to push pull, I'd say it needs reseating.

havent noticed this mentioned yet but it should have been the very first thing you checked....

you have the CPU fan control set to OFF in the BIOS, right? you want the pump in the H^0 running at nothing less than 100%.

There's not really much difference between them, unless you go for something cheap or nasty. Of the decent branchs there's 2-3 degrees between them. Some people will claim they dropped 5-10 degrees aftwer switching to a different one, but that's more likely to do with moving the case around and lossening the HSF than anything.

Arctic Silver 5 and Arctic Colling MX-4 are widely regarded as the best. I personally use Zalman ZM-STG1. You paint it on with a small brush onto both surfaces (like nail polish only a lot thinner) and is just so easy to apply.

but yeh make sure your pump is going 100% first, as suggested by j4ms.

Ok, checked the bios and it DID have CPU fan control on... sorry of someone mentioned it earlier, I must have missed it!

I'm gonna do a manual overclock and then see how the temps are with the fan control set to off.

is it only the pump that requires the control to be off? Can I leave the radiator fans with fan control on?

Also, I have hooked the two radiator fans to the same power socket on the motherboard using a splitter. Is this ok? The motherboard reports the fans doing over 4000rpm... which doesn't sound right.

Incidently, just spotted my AWFUL spelling of 'attempting' in the title of this thread and I do apologise!

I was under the impression that pump power came from the Molex connector, not the mb fan header. That's the case on the H100 anyway.

Does it also have the molex connector like the H100?

Nope, and am pretty sure it didn't come with an adaptor or anything to convert it to a molex. Although i will have to double check that when I get home.

Might be adding the two together or something stupid. They certainly don't do 4000RPM lol But running the two from one socket is fine. Radiator fans can of course be set to whatever speed you choose.

I think both me and j4mi3 mentioned the fan control way back near the beginning :p

Edit post -> Advanced -> Alter title ;)

I think all the lower end ones have the pump run off the board. I'm guessing the H100 and possibly H80 run off the molex as the pumps need more power due to larger radiator.

id turn all the fan control off. just to be safe. the noise increase wont be much at all and i think the better temps are worth the trade off

also, how fast were the fans running? it should give you an updated speed in the bios under monitor

May be worth me investing in one of those manual 5.25" bay fan controller options then.

The new fans I added are fine, though the original corsair one is making a bit of noise now.

Sadly, sat in work now. Have to wait till this evening to mess around with it again.

Thanks again guy, the help so far has been much appreciated.
