Anybody know if RS components sell 20pin ATX power connectors.

I want to shorten mine but would rather replace the connector as opposed to chopping and soldiering the wires.

Maplins don't do 'em and I've tried searching the RS web site but no joy.

    Anyone have any ideas ?

    Cheers, CC

I've honestly never looked at one that close, but what are the pins like that plug into the connector? Are like the ones in a standard molex? If so, couldn't you just pop them out of the connector you have, cut them to the length you want and squeeze a new pin on the end and then pop them back in? I know maplins has to have the molex pins. :D

An RS search on 20-way molex throws up a few, not sure if they're the same fit as an ATX

eg. Connector, PCB, 20 way, dual row header, Molex 90131-0770

The correct fitting is a Molex 39-01-2200 or equivalent, best bet would be to download the datasheets from RS and/or Molex to see what's compatible.

I have found the connector on the RS website. For anyone who is interested its:

    Molex Part No. 39-01-2200
    RS Part No. 172-9049

They only cost £0.29 each but you have to buy five (5) at a time and now for the bad bit. You have to buy the crimp receptacles separately at £15.71 for a pack of 100.

I’ll check with a mate a work tomorrow if he can source these individually if not I’ll order from RS.

If anybody else is interested I’ll have a few sets spare I guess.

    Cheers, CC

Thanx cpemma, you half beat me to it whilst I was writing my post :hehe:

I used the Molex part number under the advanced search option.
