Alrighty, glad there was another question here to help me learn some stuff and to show me where this thread should go... Now a story:
I have a Bronco... That's a lot of space to work with, you're talking half of a small appartment worth of interior...
Stock, it has a pair of 6.5s which I have replaced with Pioneer TSAs (which, IMO sound better than the TSGs) and a pair of 6x8s in the back.
I'm a poor college student, but I'm always looking for more sound to fill the massive space...
    I'm being given a pair of 4x6s and a pair of 6x9s.

    Should I
    A) put the 4x6s in kickpanels under the dash, put the 6x9s where the 6x8s are now, and move the 6x8s to behind the back seat
    B) put the 4x6s in kickpanels under the dash, keep the 6x8s where they are, and put the 6x9s behind the back seat
    C) Something else entirely, possibly integrating the 4x6s into the dash and putting the 6x8s in kickpanels under the dash?

And what are my options for driving them? Naturally running them all from the head unit would not be optimal, but is it possible? If no, what are options for amps that are college-fund-able?

    Please, enlighten me :)
(oh btw, the reason I'm not *terribly* worried about my lack of low-bass is because I listen to mostly punk/ska and country (yeah yeah, I know, but it's fun to sing with), but I do plan on adding a sub in the rear when I have money... someday...)

I would get an amp. Not an audio person myself but I wouldn't imagine it as being a good idea to run that lot from the headunit.

    And country...bloody redneck. :hehe:

You just haven't given it a chance enough to start singing along ;) The accent really is fun, even if you're just making fun (George Strait is a good one to make fun of :p )

And what are the options in ghett-amp-land?

Not what 'aren't' the options... what 'are' the options :p
I'm sure there are many more crap budget amps than half-decent budget amps...

Edit: also, know of a good car (or better, truck) audio forum? :)

i have a very similar situation in my pickup - kinda ghettoed together all sorts of stuff

lotta mismatched pulls from my friends cars and other places and nothing fits.

there are alotta opinions on where and how to mount speakers, but unless you know someone with the same car as you its tough to say.

i just switched stuff around untill it fit well enough and sounded decent enough. shorted one of my amps 3 times in the process but its all good.

i have 2 kenwood 5x7s meant for a ford sedan in the front dash, kinda half recessed in the lil 3 1/2 holes that came stock run off the deck

2 pyle 3 1/2 in the holes by either seatbelt run off the deck

2 boxed 6x9s on the transmission hump powered by a lightning audio 150w 2way amp

a cheap walmart bazooka tube and 2 12" woofers powered by a plye 600w amp

the lightning audio amp i got secondhand from a buddy for 20 bucks. does alright but it pops some bass when you shut it off, its a lil anoying.

the pyle amp i also got secondhand. pyle is not by any means a top notch brand. but ill tell you what. it beats the hell outta my kenwood 600w amp i used to have. the kenwood died about 18 months after i bought it new. the pyle is about 2 years old, and ive had it for a year. its been rained on, shorted atleast 3 times (my fault) , but it still works great after i replaced the fuses.

the subs are from an old band set. i had just wanted the boxes (have you seen how much they want for a truck sub box retail!?!?!?) but outta sheer laziness never got new subs for them. with a little sealant they hit pretty damn hard, but i dont push em.

that tube is garbage. if i could take it out without unbolting the seat from the floor itd be in the trash.

all said and done i did the whole truck with less than 100 usd but it was all done piecemeal and was switched around alot. hits loud and hard. it shuts itself off when it pulls too much juice from my poor 89 chevy on a hard bass tone.

if youre in college id start asking around to see if anyone is selling their stuff. theres always those rich kids whos mummy and daddy but everything and then they sell it to buy smack or something like that.

also alotta stereo install places have second hand stuff that they pulled and dont have much use for. if you ask they are usually pretty reasonable if you sound like you know what you are talking about.

electronics stores sometimes run open box clearances on returned items, worth looking for.

i dunno if youve read crutchfields catalog but its very informative, altho the stuff in it is a lil rich for my taste.

    hope this helps!

    That was very helpful, thanks!
Yeah, I wish I'd known where to look for stuff before I blew $100 on my sony head unit and $90 on the TSAs (though I regret the sony FAR more than the 6.5 TSAs, I love those little speakers). Maybe then I could've had a better deck and perhaps even a sub (egad!)

I'll look into the pyle and crutchfields too, thanks!

Got the speakers today. The 6x9s are delco 10 Ohm and the 4x6s are delco 4 Ohm.
Does this have any bearing on what I need as far as amps go?
