Ok, I’m looking for something to take analog audio/video (i.e. Move camera, or VCR) through RCA’s or S Video, to my pc. I’ve been told that almost any video card will do this, but don’t video cards have outputs, not inputs, I don’t know so that’s why I’m asking. So if some video cards do this, which ones would have the highest video quality?

I know there are things you can buy that work through USB, but they turn out looking like they’ve been recorded with a web cam.

You will need a special card for that. Probably some type of input card. I know that bit-tech reviewed a usb unit but for audio just get a adapter and hook it up. via microphone or audio device.

You need a card with VIVO: Video in, video out. They generally all have very similar qualities, although personally I prefer the ATI rage theatre chipsets on ATI cards.

I looked at some ATI cards with VIVO, and there all like 600 bucks. I'm only going to be using the card for importing video so I can edit and store it. I don’t need any of the other features, so do they have a model that has the same VIVO input quality, but on a more striped down cheaper card?

Like, does the $660 card have better input quality compared to a $150, or does the $660 just have more features but the same input quality?

Dont confuse Avivo with VIVO. They do tend to put them on the more expensive cards, yes, and im not entirely sure why.

    Two questions, Bindi:
Is the Rage Theater chip fast enough to use for playing console games through the graphics card and onto your computer monitor?
    What software do you use?

    Thanks

Usually video in suffers from lag. Ive tried it on an oooold Radeon VIVO and I havent heard anyone since who's got it to work and not have a notiable lag between controller and movement on screen.

What’s the difference between VIVO and Avivo? and is there a card that just does that without all the "extras" that I dont need that drive the price up?
