I've been checking Autdirect for a new stock of Dell 2005FPW's, and I've noticed they have some now. As some people have ordered with no problem, I'm wondering, do they come with DVI cables included?
I bought one in january and even though the box was pretty tatty the monitor was in A1 condition. Came with vga / dvi and power leads. Theres a pretty long thread on hexus's bargin section, most people have had no problems with their monitors. Few people have had pretty bad backlight bleeding which is a known problem with the 2005fpws but autdirect replaced them iirc. You should have no problem
I got mine today, and the image is jsut great, and it's a lot bigger than you think it's going to be. (Can't see any bleeding either)
Apologies for reviving the thread, but I'm swaying more and more towards buying one of these. I assume recent purchasers have had no problems with backlight problems and that autdirect offer good service? And using one on dvi for PC and vga for xbox360 poses no problems? Many thanks.
2005s have awful backlight bleeding problems. I wouldn't buy one for 200 quid to use personally (but i'd flog 'em on ebay )
Mine didn't have a whole lot of bleed. I was quite fond of it, though it did end up on the backburner once the 24" came in and ransacked my desk space. Which reminds me, it's unofficially for sale (headed to school, no room for it).
I don't really see any problems with the backlight on mine, but some of them have had problems. For that price, I'd go for it.
Although, yes they do have some small problems, they are great monitors, and, unless you stare at black all day, they are invisible. How much?
I'm thinking about getting the 2405FPW, good monitor? I'd probably buy it from this shop as they're so cheap. Or woudl I be better off getting the 2407WFP?
Not sure how much you get out of this since I couldn't supress the light coming from the window enough to loose the glare. (so you'll just see the window reflection, except in the midle where it's blocked by my chair) And yes the curtains were down. I'd take another pic this evening if I weren't flying for a vacation. All I'm saying that when working in a completely black screen in photoshop, background light bleeding, if any, is so insignificant you can't really notice it. Now I've seen some 2005's that have had pretty noticeable bleeding, but I was lucky to get one that has none or very little. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that my version is one of the last ones made before dell started to offer 2007's. As for 2007's and 2407's they have issues with gradient banding when the firmware is older than A02, and you're using DVI connection. link to dell support forum 2005 and 2405 don't have these banding issues.
So if I'm getting an A02 revision 2407 I should be fine? I heard about problems with the new dells but I couldn't quite remember the details of it.
