My friend just sent me this link on Facebook and I've literally listened to the whole thing right through twice already. Brilliant album, one of very few albums I've ever listened to where I'm not constantly wanting to skip tracks to get to the one or two I like. Try God Hates Us, Natural Born Killer, and So Far Away if you're short on time though Also, genius move putting it online now, I'll be buying on release. Or at least on payday...
Just went on to have another listen, got one track in and then it stopped working, refreshed and he's taken them all down Oh well, its out in a few days.
Their last album was great and I've listened to the single "Nightmare." I'm definitely looking forward to this! It's too bad about Jimmy, but I can't say they didn't find a good replacement.
I enjoy Nightmare (the single), and the previous two albums. HOWEVER, I think the drum sound on Nightmare wasn't A7X enough,a nd very Dream Theater. Protnoy, while undoubtably a great drummer just (IMO) doesn't seem like the right replacement for The Rev.
The Business Mind of Mike Portnoy: 1) "Oh, hey guys, how's it going? Your drummer died? That sucks. Hey, I'll help you out!" 2) "Does this sound OK?" DAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKA 3) "Oh, yeah, so I wrote those drum tracks in 39/17 time, so if you ever want to play them again, pay me to come on tour with you!" The man is a genius.
ROFL! That's probably the funniest thing i've heard about a drummer yet... and I hear regular rants about Joey Jordison, George Kollias and some others.
