With the addition of a dvd burner drive, I would like to convert some of my divx encoded home movies and TV shows onto a dvd. I'm told that nero will create a good quality disk, but that it can't be played in a pc, and the only dvd player I have is my pc. So thats kinda useless. "AVI DivX to DVD Converter" seems to be working, but I have a feeling that it will do the same thing as nero, which would suck as I don't realy have a need for another coaster (I've already got a nice collection care of AOL). So I need software that will allow me to put movie files (DivX encoded) onto a standard dvd-r. As well, would it work if I just burnt the files directly onto a dvd in their existing format? I've attempted this with cd-r's with no success; the movies just freeze 5 minutes after they begin. Any and all help would be muchly appreciated! I'm new to this whole dvd burning thing. By the way, if it helps, I've got a LiteOn 16X DL dvd burner and am using Sony 8x dvd-r.
You can't just burn the divx to disc as it is mpeg4 and dvd video is mpeg2 thus it wont play, however I haven't converted mpeg4 to mpeg 2 so I am unable to reccomend any software/give advice.
As I explained in my original post I'm unable to do that as I've been told by a few friends that the disks won't be able to be played in a computer, and this is necessary. Anyway, I just went ahead and burnt the files onto the dvd without the whole movie format BS stuff. Works perfectly, and plays on the computer it's ment for.
Erm, I put some TV episodes I had onto DVD using nerovision, it worked fine on the PC, just like a normal DVD.
Thats strange I even got ahold of a disk that was burnt using nero, and out of three dvd drives, none of them will even pick up the disk (liteon and MSI on my main rig, and toshiba on my laptop). Guess it just depends upon method/media?
Could be media dependant but as you can read the media when you write in a different format I'd say no. Have you tried using a more up-to-date version of nerovision?
WinAVI Video Converter can easily do this trick perfectly! And you can find it from http://www.winavi.com/avi-to-dvd.htm . Maybe you can download one to have a try! Anyway, it is free to try!
