Hey there, this isn't an issue which is gonna kill me but it sure as hell bugs me!

When I playback any .avi file, the very top and very bottom scan lines are mixed up throughout playback. This happens in vlc AND Mediaplayer classic.

I dunno if this helps visualise it, but the lines appear in this order

    6
    2
    3
    4
    5
    1

Does anybody know what might be causing this???

Does it do it in all players? Have you tried changing codecs?

VLC uses it's own codecs, MPC uses directshow codecs, so it's probably not a codec thing.

it's a very wierd issue, i can't say i've ever heard of it before. could be a drivers thing, i suppose. and you're sure it's every avi, not just a few? avi is just a container, not an compression format, it usually contains video compressed with either XviD or DivX. try finding a file you know is XviD and one you know is DivX and ensure it happens in both of those.

Hey thanks for the responses. I have checked the avis out in gspot, and found a couple of Divx and a couple of Xvids, and they both have this problem! I tried them in VLC and MPC as well!! How strange...As you say, it must be a driver thing then.

I have a 3850pro and will try updating my drivers tomorrow.
