just wondering, ppl from yor side of the pond tend to refer to this time of the year as 'the holidays' ,eg "happy holidays!" etc, where as ppl over here call it 'christmas time' etc, just wondering if their is a signifcant reason for this or is it just one of them language different things, well that prob made very little sense.

i think its just a matter of preference

the holidays being the time given off work/school
    (22nd~2nd)
where as christmas time would only be from the 24th to the 26th

dont get me wrong, i, too call it christmas time, but i tend to refer to christmas time as being the days closer to the actual holiday
