    Hello again!

As some of you may have seen, I recently came into possession of a Coolermaster Cosmos SE case. Seeing as how my main rig is due some maintenance, which is going to be a decently large job anyway, I figured it would make sense to have a go transferring it into the Cosmos. One of the key reasons for this is that I'm likely to be moving my rig around a fair bit pretty soon and frankly my Phantom 820 is a tad enormous. It completely dwarfs the Cosmos when I have the two side by side, the Cosmos also has those rather fetching handles.

So I thought I'd take you all for a ride in a different style this time. There will be no fancy CAD for this build unlike all my others, this will be one that I make up as I go along. I have a rough idea what I want to do with the case, however. I'm trying to keep this as a more simple mod as I'm still working on my more ambitious scratch build "Loramentum" currently. If I play my cards right there shouldn't be any scheduling clashes between the two!

I'm going for an automotive theme this time, sticking with blue and white as per the original Azure colour scheme. I'll also be adding some chrome/polished elements (like the handles) to liven the thing up.

But enough of the waffle, how about some pictures?

This took a surprising amount of effort. Will have to make a new wall most likely.

    So much stuff came out...

Coolermaster really didn't want this part to come out, so many rivets.

New toy for dealing with all the lurvely powder coating. Thanks Andy and Crapman for the tip!

Popped it into the pillar drill instead, made the whole process so much simpler.

Getting there, need to do a hell of a lot of sanding to get them to the finish I want though.

Given this project is smaller in scope, I should hopefully be able to provide some more regular updates.

    Quiet in here eh?

So I received this in the post yesterday:

I've wanted to do a mod using an Aquaero for ages, I finally decided to bite the bullet this time though. Should help everything to remain as quiet as possible completely autonomously. I wasn't too happy when I sprung a leak last summer during a freakishly hot day combined with a game that taxed my PC 100% for hours thanks to a bug. Had I been using one of these it simply would have ramped everything up for me.

As for actual progress, I'm currently stuck sanding the bars. It's a surprisingly large job to get them fully buffed up, still most of the legwork is done on that front, just need to progress through the finer grits now.

    Let me get the popcorn!

I've been looking at a SE myself and wasn't sure how it looked up close but your pics give it good light that makes me want to get one now!

Then you went and killed it. :p Looking forward to this project and the Aquaero 6 turning up, well -- me subbed!

I wish I had the free time to be able to take on two mods at once. Dread to think what my turnaround would be on them!

    Subbed. :)

About as nice as they come right now, this thing is insane in terms of the number of things it can do. There's actually an even higher end one which has a touchscreen and a remote, I didn't need either of those features though so opted for this one. [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPQaMowIrmU) is basically what sold me I reckon. Won't be needing anything like that much juice, but the features themselves are very handy.

    Also, those damn rivets! :grr:

Glad to have you on board! The Cosmos SE is a really solid case, very well built that's for sure, although it does have some odd quirks to it. The default radiator support is much less than I expected really. It doesn't have native 360mm support for instance, but does have a couple spots for 280s instead. The HDD bay structure also doesn't work too well with inordinately large graphics cards either. I've got an old GTX 590 that I use for scaling stuff, couldn't fit it inside without removing some bays, even then it was a squeeze.

Starting to wish I had the time for two mods too rofl. My days run from 6am-8pm generally atm, makes getting any meaningful modding done during the week almost impossible. Weekends are taken up by family etc. at least the weather's decent. :D

That thing is a beast! Great purchase though, would have taken ages to strip otherwise.

    Cheers!

Might not be for quite a while actually. My priorities have changed a little as I'll be coming into possession of some rather cool other stuff. This build will happen though, just eventually.
