I just went into the kitchen to satisfy my BLT craving only to find that both the bacon and the bread were gone. Improvised with Pancetta and an onion bagel - must say, its awesome

I too, upon reading Tad's initial post, went to manufacture a BLT. Likewise, my lettuce was gone (well, not gone, rather a nasty colour of brown, but that meant it was shortly gone). I improved with pea leafs, and that also worked extremely well.

    Yay.

edit: Lol, improved? Improvised....now I'll go sit in the corner with my D-hat on.

Fresh crusty bread, plenty of back bacon and freshly ground filtered coffee.

If you don't buy the house there and then you're not human.

    bah.

bacon sliced thick, and then into strips.
fry it till a good bit of fat renders out - but not really crispy.

toss in a bunch of sliced mushrooms. fry.
when that is mushy ( the shrooms) - pop it off to a paper plate, leaving as much grease in pan as possible.
mix up 4 medium or 3 large eggs. leave out the milk. please.

pour eggs in pan. stir a little. then LEAVE IT ALONE until set. flip.
apply bacon/shroom mix to 1/2 of the eggage. add a couple slices of muenster and/or havarti (minus the dill, please)

    fold over.

if you HAVE to involve bread, toast and butter on the side. preferrably a nice dark rye.

A nice, floured bun with some totally NOT crispy, smoked bacon. Turning it to something resembling charcoal is just wrong for a fine-tasting meat like nice smoked bacon.

All you heretics who burn bacon is wrong...

This. Chewy bacon is devil-work. But then again, it's no good burned to hell either, where you pick it to put it in a sandwich and it disintegrates.

Not crispy but close to it is the best way, then it isn't chewie and wont crumble on a sandwich. I like it on a BLT or plain, when I could eat eggs I would make sandwiches with english muffins and a kinda omelet thing with bacon and whatever good cheese I could find in the fridge.

I just got really really hungry typing that.:eeek:

Streaky bacon! gotta have a fried egg too, but with a runny yolk. Bread slightly toasted (crispy on the edges with soft/moist inside).
Bacon should be blasted for a minute to get to temp, then at medium heat for thorough cooking, then blasted for about 20s to crisp it. some plum tomatoes (we got some plants) cut in half then put in the pan with the bacon, so the tomato juice helps to flavour the eggs (or something like that).
    They're Grrrrrrreat!

HOWEVER in france at the moment, discovered to my horror that "Casino" (french equivalent of Tesco) had ONE type of bacon (about a million packs of it), but bacon just doesn't seem to exist here! It was strongly smoked aswell. I had to concede as I was trying to make some carbonara for lunch (and dinner).

I like it when it's hot/warm but not crunchy. Also needs a fried egg or 2. Fried egg yolk makes the perfect bacon sauce:thumb:

I had fake bacon the last time I ate in the cafeteria at UW Stevens Point. It was like greasy cardboard with a picture of bacon on it, it made me poo a lot.

By brown sauce do you mean what americans, including myself, call steak sauce?

(I've actually never heard it called brown sauce before)
