The BC2 server will be up on release. That's certain. What we haven't decided yet is what mapcycle and modes we'll run.

I can't see the server running hardcore, because it seems too easy to basecamp and dominate, and the tracer pistol has no ironsights. This is a deal breaker - if I can't tracer snipers across the map and then send RPGs after them the toys will be going out the pram.

It's early days for this, really, because we've all only played Rush on Valdez. However the info on other maps and vehicles is out, and you can have an eyeball here

We've still got a few weeks of speculation, so let's get it all wrong and backpedal later. :D

I think a month with all the maps on rotation then a vote for the "top 5" maps or something of the similar.

just ramdom it, and then see whats the most populer after a few weeks.

Yeah, that's pretty much what we were going to do sHORNY. I'm not entirely sure how long it'll take to play through each map though. Probably set it to 1 hour per map. It'll take at least a month to work out what's horrible or not.

That is if PB ever lets any one get on the server. :eyebrow:

Actually that's another thing, we need at least one new admin for the BC2 server who's experienced with BF, PB, and who's not a raging egomaniac. It's a heady combination and a lot to ask for, I know.

Are there any takers? Preferable someone active on the bit forums.

Try and add alot of capture the flag to the map cycle to ease some of the BF2 vets into the game a bit and plus i think we might be a little bored of the current attack and defend coms sites that we have in the beta.

And i think it would be in the servers best intrest to not have the current beta map in the cycle aswell because by the time the game is out we will all have spent 50+ hours each on that map, and just add it after a month or so depending on feed back.

Capture the flag was always a top suggestion on old bf servers....and the cream always rises to the top so map rotation should'nt be tooo hard to sort out....admins may have a hard time with stat padders

Punkbuster is just installed, it doesn't do anything to you anyway.

With only 8 maps coming out on release, certainly a full spread is the best option to take.

I might actually pop on the BT server every now and then when i can tear myself away from the ZiiP server. My loyalties lie there and I will be admining it as well along with a select few others.

I've met enough good people here, that i would like to stab them in the face and get their tags :D

    Also: Hardcore...

is there any way to shuffle the teams on each map change?

was in CPC server tonight, and found my team to be dominated in all 5 games i've played :( their team is just too good, while my team was finding it really hard to get organised. (use tracer dart FFS!)

I'm afraid not, there's basic admin plugin I was thinking of adding, but not sure there's anything to allow admins to balance teams etc.

Basically DICE need to pull their finger out.

Its not so much the lack of shuffling that bugs me. Its the fact that half your team leave, to head onto the winning team. The autobalance doesnt seem to work which is a major pain in the ***.

They don't even need a working autobalancing system, they just need to prevent more than 16 players joining one team, since that's the maximum you'd ever want on a single team on a 32-player server.

The annoying thing is that once a load of people switch to the winning team, they can't change back for ages, so either they have to be kicked (which would still leave the other team short), or the people that were on the team originally and weren't being complete douchebags end up having to switch teams. I'm more than happy to switch to the losing team if some people leave and they're uneven (my W/L ratio has been ****ed up enough by the team balance issues as it is), but not when people can't handle being on the losing team.

The worst thing I've found about that switch limit is if you switch to balance the team you can't switch back after the inevitable overshoot.
