I just upgraded my PC with a AMD X2 4800, an ASUS A8NSLI Deluxe, and 2x EVGA 7800GTX KO's (soon to be accompanied with 4gb of Corsair 3500LL, as soon as it arrives in the mail)

I've just finished instaling the new components and now after post I get the 'windows could not start properly" screen with the options to boot into safemode, safemode w/ networking, normally, etc. Everything works up to this point, however after choosing one of these options (any one) I get a quick BSOD screen flash. After making use of my digital camera's video feature I was able to read the text "BAD_POOL_HEADER" along with the usual BSOD-BS.

Can anyone here help me out with this?

note: After this error popped up I tried removing all non-essential hardware...no-dice.

PS: It's good to be back. :geek:

    edit:

    old system specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 3200+
    1gb Corsair DDR
    ASUS K8V Deluxe
    ASUS GeForce 5700 256mb

You reformat in between? Because you've gone from a Via board to Nforce 4. And why you've bought 4gig of DDR is another mystery to me.

Sounds like the standard IDE controller error.

The best way is to format and Bindibadgi says.

    Shortcuts are to repair install.

Even shorter cut (but more hassle) is to completely remove the IDE controllers when the old board is in, prevent them from being redected by window,s then install the new hardware.

Just reformat mate, it's a hell of a lot easier, and it'll give you a fresh slate to see how quick your system is.

PS. 4GB DDR is stupid. Unless it's a workstation, that's useless.

Your render beast needs a new OS install to work.

Lesson to be learned there then. Go buy an Icy Box, a large IDE drive, and a copy of Norton Ghost, and do twice weekly backups. Works like a charm. I can restore my drive and everything is how I left it, Style XP and samurize settings included. Totaly reliable. Hell.. I once formatted by drive cos I was bored.. knowing I could put it all back again.

The 320GB WD drive for £80 on eBuyer makes this policy somewhat cheaper - it's definitely a good idea ;)

So many of my friends have taken that option and ended up with a destroyed HDD from the crappy power supply supplied with the icy boxes failing...

Spend £20 more and get one of the Seagate/Maxtor/WD enclosures + HDD!
