    A Little Pinstripin'...

I tried it with a stripin' brush and it was just lookin' too fat and sloppy. Sooo... I drew a pattern in CorelDraw, cleaned it up in AutoCAD and had my buddy at Amos Graphics cut the patterns out of vinyl on his sign cuttin' machine.

    Nice, nice, nice. :thumb:

The trick was to tape both pieces of each design to the parts, so they would line up proper like when you flip them over. This is the first patterns taped down while the second patterns are taped back...

After airbrushing it and peeling away the tape and outer vinyl, I super-glued a q-tip to the vinyl so I wouldn't have to peel it with a knife... turned to be not necessary, but clever, eh? :D

    Looks like this...

Skip ahead to the second design... airbrushed with white base coat, followed by white pearl... there's one spot that needs some, uh... attention... :hip:

Wetsanded and clear-coated (something that wasn't working with real pinstripes... maybe its the clear I'm usin')...

I love how the lines and colors of the paint really match the design of the case and the whole concept of it, great job.

^^^ This'll give ya a hint of where she's goin'... :hip:

    She's Painted...

Bigger pics than usual, well, just because... :D

Many hours... gads, I didn't realize how long this takes... anyways, after about 40 rattle cans of paint, some airbrushing, wet-sanding with 800, 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit, then hand polishing it with micro-polish...

Its like glass... you can't even feel where the colors change with your fingers, not even the striping. :D

And yeah, I'm gonna use one of the clear bubbles... I'm not likin' the yellow dome...

Most of this is attached, but they're really "proppped" pictures...

Gonna have to take her all apart, polish all the aluminum and then...

This was shot with a flash... gonna have to take some nicer pictures soon...

    holy...damn...gee...
this looks BADASS!! i think it would lose something with the clear bubble, the yellow just sets it off i think. it picks up the lightest tinge in the orange paint on the rounded corners and just brings it out. i might have to copy the idea for that grill, it looks amazing. you dont mind do you? it will be much different looking, just the same type of construction.

    Some Reflections...

Many hours of wet-sanding and polishing paid off... :hip:

Ya gotta see the magenta fogged inside of the bezel in person, I guess. I can't seem to catch it in a picture, it looks cool... you can kinda see it here... but back to those reflections... :D

Feeling that, one of the nicest paintjobs out there!

Can't believe you did that with ordinary spraypaint, guess patience pays off :hehe: (mental note, do some testing with spraypaint yourself :D)

Now the only thing which I'm not so sure about is the skull thing, might turn out well, but somehow seems out of place. Maybe a nice billet shiftknob would do the thing?

Anyhow, feels good to see "the whole picture" of the thing, and I must say the picture looks good.

    Wowee!

How did the mods miss this for the mod of the year competition! Maybe they'll make note of it for next time.

I wonder how many magazines I'm going to see this one in!

Wow man this is nice. I've been following your work over at the wizd forums for some time now and my only complaint is that it took so damn long. I guess that's the price you pay for excellence. Stock that badboy up with some trick hardware and go win some LAN competetions.
