^^^ Aye Janne... the orange was indeed inspired by a Cadillac, but not that one... a '61...

Since seeing that car, I've noticed Tangelo pearl on quite a few cars and bikes... its become quite popular and looks even better in person. The Snowwhite pearl was inspired by the Ala Kart... a custom truck from the '60's. The two together didn't really work until the fogged in magenta was added... then it was just a natural progression to scallops and stripes styled after the old salt flat cars. The color scheme on Ed Roth's Beatnik Bandit was a big influence also. :hip:

And the monitors run 2560 x 1600... that's why they each need their own card. :worried:

When this started, it was gonna be just a gaming 'puter... but as it started coming together, hardware started getting better and better (dat's what happens when it takes a long time :hip: ) and the idea of making it a workstation evolved, then quad cores came around, good multi-core boards don't have to be EATX anymore, boards with three PCI Express slotss started showing up, and well, one thing led to another... so here we are (but they're GTS cards, not GTX, those wouldn't quite fit).

You could have put like... a p1 form 1998 in here with a text-only monitor and it still would have blown my system away.

I need to go to sleep now :)

Each card only needs 1 PCIe connector, not 2, so it shouldnt be really be problem

    really great project :D
you are the first one in this forum who runs three video cards.
A really big monitor set! On in the center and two in an right angle on the left and on the right? (surround monitors :eyebrow: )
or wil you sit 10 meters away from them to have an overview?
can't wait to see they system running
whats left to do? only the tubing?
or do you still miss any parts?
will you use orange water dye?
    and what about lights?
uuh many questions, but i followed this one from the beginning and I was always thinking about how it will look like in the end.
so go one the last bits and it will finally be finished... :naughty:

    See post 338... :naughty:

I replaced the earlier PSU with a 750W PC Power and Cooling unit that's been modularized. It has connectors for four video cards. And yeah, its too long for the pod. There's an interesting solution to the PSU sticking out of the back side of the pod that I'm working on now. It involves some aluminum plates that are spaced apart from each other to end up looking like ribs. That's probably hard to imagine, but you'll see it pretty soon.

What's left to do? A lot more than you guys think, apparently... :D But yeah, mainly plumbing and wiring to get her up and running. The ATX plug might be a clearance problem. And a lot of polishing. Lots of little details that I refuse to overlook... :hip:

I'm not happy with the radiator pod's paint, so might repaint it while doing the keyboard's paint.

Zerex makes an orange coolant additive that I might try, because I've had great succes with their green stuff on BaDassII.

About the monitors, if you could see how I work, it would make sense. :naughty: I use my rig as a workstation, but also use it for presentations... letting clients "walk through" their home designs, so there's no such thing as too much screen real estate around here. Also, I print my work out in 36" x 48" sheets, so working on small screens is tough... you just lose all the detail unless you zoom in and out all day. Hope that makes sense. :hehe:

About lights... we'll see. I've got some orange cathodes and LED's, but don't want to think about until the rest of the things are done.

wow sounds like you got a good idea planned that will probably look like it was meant to be like that lol
im pleased your taking your time, as often you see mods rushed towards the end just to get them 'up and running'

what do you do as a profession? archetecture?
