So, I have been away for a little while, and then I saw ComputerKing was banned for reasons i.e. No license/Can't drive/Being a little stupid.

    http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=141207

Now yeah I agree he goes way over the top on here (I have no idea who is he, so I'm no freind).

But he is from Egypt or Dubai, and that's where he spends most of his time, but what you don't understand, is that these places, and very much so for Egypt, do not really have driving liscenses or insurance, hardly anyone does, so to the guy, it's not actually a bad thing, it's normal, I lived out in Egypt for over a year, and you see crashes everyday, some fatalities, and no one has insurance, you crash, survive, get taxi home, that's it.

When we where out there, our driver was in a crash (thankfully we where not in the car), but it involved a 13 year old in his dad's 4x4, one of the guys in our car nearly died, the taxi was scrapped, and the family bought our driver another car, that was the end of it, no police were involved, nothing...

You have to understand that things like this are TOTALLY different over there than here, there is no crossings, speed limit etc. It's dangerous, but IT'S NORMAL, it's like eating salad here with your meal. Also People where taking the piss out of the guy, but he most likely thought "Why are these guys against me?". I could get a plane tomrrow to Egypt, buy a car for £20 (Exchange rate), and drive it.

Anyway, thought I'd just say something about that. :) (Again I do not know the guy in anyway)

Close/Delete thead if you want, I will understand. :)

    Cheers,

    Maj

CK was banned because he went on a crazed rant about how everyone on Bit-tech is a faker and that he's never coming back. No admin here would have banned someone for not having a license - this isn't a driving forum.

I contest his ban as well. He was naive, but not stupid, and the language barrier caused some of his insight to be lost in translation. Banning him was shamefully lewd.

**Edit: also, I have no other way of getting in contact with him.

He posted an extended diatribe, linked to above, about the members of the forums. In it he indicated that he wouldn't be posting here again, so we respected his wishes and banned him.

That's still not really a reason to ban, I don't think he said "I want to be banned", he stated he isn't going to take the internet too seriously, therefore concentrating in real life and not visiting here again etc.

MajorGN and I just think he was frustrated for the moment, that's all. He wasn't begging a community ban and didn't seem to have violated community rules. It just doesn't make sense to eject someone because they disliked some members in a non-offensive manner.

He was a royal pain in the arse though. Everything he posted read like those stupid spam emails that make absolutely no sense. I don't really have any side to pick on whether it was right or wrong to ban him, but if we were having a poll on whether or not to bring him back, I'd vote no. (unless he got himself his own little sub forum where he could spam to his hearts content and occasionally make me grin with his crazy outlook on pretty much everything.)

This was by no means the first of his extended diatribes. Anyone with his posting habits, native english or not, would receive the same treatment. A discussion amongst all of the moderators came to this conclusion.

    That's all folks

Just to add to that: there is only so much you can chalk up to bad English and different cultural values. After that, some people are just immature, spoilt nuisances (eh, President Bush?).

CK has had a lot of help, support and guidance on this forum, some behind the scenes that you don't even know about. He has persistently chosen to ignore or outright reject what he does not want to hear. He may have a puppyish enthusiasm but he peed on the carpet too often and he demanded too much attention. There are only so many strokes we're prepared to give any ego, and that, in the end, is why he chose to leave.

Even if we lifted the ban he said he wasn't coming back.

I think it's a shame that the last thread he posted was closed, and I think it'd be nice to get the chance to respond to some of the slightly odd stuff that he said:

Edit: scratch that, it's just a completely retarded rant. Nothing to say.

I, personally, had been sick of him for months. Finally, something Will. and I agree about.
Perhaps its time to rethink their whole infrastructure then? Death on the roads from 13 year olds kids in 4x4's shouldn't be an everyday occurance. Ok, we do GET that from time to time over here, but at least its considered a crime.

Like Nexxo said, he had a lot of help from the BiT mod team outside of the forums. His constant spamming of the BiT irc channel / not listening to advice etc etc amongst other actions are what led to him being banned. Not just his actions on the road.

I'll throw my opinion in here too.

CK had a lot of things going on behind the scenes which general reader may not be aware of. He was often spamming admins with requests for help and plagued me for grammar advice (which he then ignored) many times. His posts, while intending to be helpful, were in reality ultimately useless because they could not be understood a lot of the time and he was bombarding us with pictures. There was lots of speculation that he may have just been faking it all, searching for attention.

In the end, he did what he has done before. Left, with a lot of drama, so that he could return later with another 500+ picture post and get everyone saying "oh we missed you" and "why did you leave, the mods great". We didn't want to go through that again, so when he chose to leave this time we decided to make it final. The controversy bought up by the benz thread and the following rant was the straw that broke the camels back, but his ban had been a long time coming before that.

It's also worth bearing in mind the number of people he annoyed, excluding staff and mods. For every post he made there would be people complaining about him, him getting defensive and wanting our help etc. That and there was a large number of people who liked him purely from the curiosity point of view, seeing him as some charity case who they had to educate in the wider world. In the end it was beneficial for him, the staff and the community to have him banned.

I thought his posts were kind of irritating but no big deal but that last one was just over the top. It doesn't seem to me that his ban had anything to do with the language barrier and everything to do with his crappy, immature attitude. Hopefully he'll grow up some in college and come back at some time in the future a better person and modder. I would sincerely hope that if he asked nicely after a few months that the Mods would review and allow him back to prove that he has grown up some..

We judge everything on a case-by-case basis, so if he presented a convincing and reasonable arguement then there's no reason why he couldn't come back in a few months.
