<disclaimer>First of all I AM NOT discussing the closure of the thread, I am suggesting a user warning system, thats all. I have changed the title so people stop thinking this thread is all about the demotivational thread.</disclaimer>

I used to check on the demotivational poster thread every week. I am currently passing through a severe case of depression. That thread, icanhascheezburguer.com, youtube and some other sites helped me with some laughs now and them.

But now the thread is gone because of some people that doesn't matter if the thread is gone.

So for those with problems following orders i propose that the admins install a warning method right bellow his/her rep points.

It should be very (graphically) visible to everybody. For example a soccer card.

1st warning just an email or something
    2nd warning a "n" days ban
    3rd warning a permanent ban

It would be interesting if when ANOTHER user click in that "card", he/she could see why the mods gave the punishment so everybody could see.

I am sure this would improve the forum experience and put them back on trails. This would affect only the ones involved and not the whole community.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers fellow bit-tekkers!

I can't say I mind the thread, this is considering I never once posted in it, but for new members to come and have to read through regulars borderline namecalling over a thread that has been closed is more than a little offputting.

I mean, there's a certain way to go about it, you are certainly more on track and I'm sure it's appreciated by the moderators. I just don't see why it has to come back, it made trouble for some, it was dealt with. At the end of the day it's a thread, so it may be funny, it may be well known, it may have been a mainstay, but nothing lasts forever.

Or how about everyone justs stops bitching about the closure of the demotivational posters thread?

It's come up in like, what, five or six different threads now?

    It's closed. Get over it.

There is no need to discuss anything. It's like one of the moderators said, everyone thinks they're the exception to the rule.

"Oh, you've banned firearms? Well how about we just allow me to keep these three handguns... They're only 9mm's..."

(Yes it annoys me how much people are going on about the closure of a thread, and if anyone posts the butthurt form I will hunt them down)

Good thing it's gone... It was 99% reposts and 1% fun...

About the only thing that was good about that thread is the fact that it has proven the rep system useless... BT rep isn't about sharing knowledge, it is about how much you could repost without being noticed...

I am NOT debating the closure of the thread.

I am merely proposing some changes in the way the users are warned.

And yes, it annoys me very much when people doesn't read the post at an understanding level.

There's already a User Infraction system built in to vbulletin, and I believe they use it to send the bans.

The exact levels of ban etc won't be visible by us, unless you get one, then you'll know.

But as far as the fiasco concerning this particular thread goes, the members that it resulted in warnings, bans or infractions for, deserved and indeed needed to be warned and afaik it was carried out apu with vbulletin.

You break rules or cause trouble for others considering yourself an exception, you get punished, use of the forum should be a privileage not to be abused.

There is already a user infraction and ban system which has worked perfectly well, along with public warnings and open lines of communication between mods and users, for years. I see no reason to overhaul to a new system purely because, as most users have admitted, they scanned a picture thread and only looked at pictures.

Closing the demotivational thread is a visible punishment and warning. Like any punishment, it's something we need to stand by.

And, like it or not, you are clearly giving your opinion on the demots thread despite your denials. This thread could have kicked off without any mention of that thread - and just look at your choice of title for chrissakes.

I am NOT denying i am giving my opinion on the thread. I AM giving my opinion, but if you read this thread I was acused of opening this thread just to complain about its closure.

That's not true, here is a suggestion. That's why this thread is in suggestion/feedback portion of the forum.

If the thread title is a concern for you, no problem: I am changing it right away.

About the closure as a visible punishment. It is clearly a punishment. Not clear to WHO this punishment was aimed to.

The only thing I suggested was a visible way to tell ALL users who was warned and why. Not just the one that is being warned, but for all the comunity.

As fair minded as this is beginning to sound, as per any discussion forum, there are times when forum staff (at their own discretion) must remove content deemed unappropriate or need to deal with a user privately, not to mention that some moderators may be uncomfortable with the entire forum seeing their activities in detail.

Now afaik, even making this so would be a headache, possible but not fun. Last time I checked Vbulletin didn't have a tickbox on the AdminCP to display all this information publicly when a warning/infraction/closure is carried out.

I am sure if a moderator wants to make it known when somebody has been warned that they will in the form of a post or otherwise, this is trivial stuff.

It already exists though, there were numerous mod posts in 'that' thread that stated people would be banned if X behavior was continued. Everybody could see it, yet some decided to ignore it!

If a mod writes a post that states 'anymore of this and you'll be banned' what more do you want?

Was it funny really ?? some of it bordered on being pretty gross.

Not that it bothered me I've been around to long to be shocked.

It's gone and good thing too get over it.

As for the Mods for the most part they seem to keep out of it maybe to much sometimes.
