Firstly.. roto is forgetting that even 28.8 isn't ideal for IRC... as about 5 pings will flood your connection out... and *snarf* @AOL hehe - we could start a war.... but what else do we put our mugs on??
RTT, may I suggest a move to a server where the ircops are less anal? Of course such a server may not exist, but it's worth a shot BTY, comcast users, there are a few servers who are not enforcing the comcast bans yet. Try ones from different countrys and see
I had the same thought as RTT, get yourself a shell account for like $2/month and use psybnc with mIRC or your IRC client of choice. Boom, gets straight around their comcast block.
:EDIT: apparently i can get g-lined for doing this for more than three people... so i need to find out about that. Ok, heres my fix.... I have an IRC bouncer set up... and am willing to provide service to a minimum of five(5) people. This service is to be used only for talking on bit-tech, or on channels belonging to bit-tech members only. It is not completely set up to my liking, but it works. This is going to be first come first serve, however i will make exceptions for high line count users. e.g. if you only go on once a day for five minutes, then forget it. It is also going to be provided with no guarantee, as I cannot promise 100% uptime. Depending on how my connection holds up, I will consider providing service to more people. It is running on a HP netserver LH4 quad xeon(550 mhz) server with 1 gig of ram, 10k rpm raid 5 scsi and is protected by an apc 1400 va UPS so it should be reliable. let me know, and I'll get you the connection details asap, be patient as its a busy time of year.
slammer thatd be nice, and Bindibadgi, i know its only irc...but yeah, it was what i did to kill some free time, now i gota find sumthing else unless slammers thingy works
Ah i found out that it is not comcast that is where I'm moving. There is only usually 2 choices in broadband, the cable company and the phone company. DSL is slow as crap (1.5mbit) while cable is 5-10 Mbit.
