Modding basic LCD mod...

    hey everyone,
    im sorry but this mustve been covered a million times, but everytime i read something it confuses me even more...
    this is my first real go at anything electronic, so if replies coudl be in english that a retard could understand id be extremely greatful :)
    ok, basically i bought a little lcd from ebay one of the 10x2 linerers (i think, bought it a whiel back, anyway its that kinda of thing) and i want to put it in a 3 .5" drive at front of one of my computers... only problem i have is i have no idea where to start... ive googled and got loadsa results on psone screens, but that not what i want. i just wanna be able to have the little lines of text with like cpu useage etc... if someone coudl give a link on where to get this info, or give me a guide or something id be extremely greatful :)

    Look in the Electronics Forums. there is an LCD guide which should give you the info you need.

    Hi Huggies15,
    As Daveppeters mentioned, there's an LCD FAQ sticky in the electronics forum which has all (and more) info than you need.
    If the LCD isn't wired, then you'll need to wire it to a parallel port connector. Heres one circuit:

    If you are new to soldering, take your time and make sure sure that you have the correct wires joined.
    As for software, there are a few, I use LCD Smartie.
