    Why was my previous post disallowed ? there was nothing wrong with it and i left useful tweaks for people so the game would play better

    It's the fighting I like the most. I was worried at first because it was all just left click click click click. But after you unlock more abilities it ends up being a proper fighting game.

    Quite the opposite - an excellent post, it just had to be moderated first. :)

    Finished the main campaign and several side quests now, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the game, more then Arkham Asylum. I think this game definitely deserves a score in the 90% range. It runs superb in DX9, and the artwork and textures are so beautiful I had to stop and just walk around instead of flying/running. Magnificient work of art. Having played it on Hard I definitely found it challenging and had to restart a battle many times because of being pummeled left right and center. Timing is crucial, and with the additional tricks up the bat and cat's sleeve I found it enjoyable. The riddlers challenges are on the easy side, easier then AA I think, but still good fun to chase down.

    Just installed I think it's had a few patches since the review.

    Anyway it looks absolutely stunning and the combat on hard is actually quite........hard.

    I turned the detail setting down from 'very high' to 'high' on an 8800gt and it's very playable, of course physx is off.

    I think the game does a good job of being playable on lower cards but also caters for the high end user with dx11, physx, tessellation and 3d.

    I quite like these sandbox games but sometimes they go a bit ott on all the extra side missions - they just get really repetetive

    good game.. felt like I was really in gotham

    wrote a vb script if anyone wanted to use it.. it just backs up your live saves as they happen- then you can go back and play any point.. just change the paths =]

    Code:
    ' vbscript- batman.vbs (.) (.)#! thehippoz
    '
    ' change the strFolder/strProgram strings below to match your
    ' save/game paths..
    '
    ' save and put both batman.vbs and monitor.vbs into the strFolder..
    '
    ' create a shortcut to the strFolder and run batman.vbs
    '
    ' was made to launch both BatmanAC.exe and monitor.vbs. it'll backup
    ' all gfwl saves while playing from any of the save slots.. it can
    ' also be used for other games with a bit of tweaking.. if you have
    ' any issues- double check the drive and path..

    strDrive = "C:"
    strFolder = "\Users\User Name\Documents\WB Games\Batman Arkham City\SaveData\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\"
    strProgram = "\Program Files (x86)\Batman Arkham City\Binaries\Win32\BatmanAC.exe"
    intCount = "1"

    Set objSh = CreateObject("Shell.Application")

    objSh.ShellExecute strDrive & strProgram, "" , "", "", 1

    objSh.ShellExecute "C:\Windows\System32\wscript.exe", """" &_
    strDrive & strFolder & """" & "monitor.vbs" , "", "", 1

    strFolder = Replace(strFolder, "\", "\\")

    Set objWMIService = GetObject( "winmgmts:" &_
    "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & ".\root\cimv2" )

    Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

    strQuery = "Select * From __InstanceOperationEvent" &_
    " Within 2 Where Targetinstance Isa 'CIM_DataFile'" &_
    " And TargetInstance.Drive='" & strDrive & "'" &_
    " And TargetInstance.Path='" & strFolder & "'"

    Set colEvents = objWMIService. ExecNotificationQuery (strQuery)

    Do

        Set objEvent = colEvents.NextEvent()
        Set objTargetInst = objEvent.TargetInstance

        Select Case objEvent.Path_.Class

            Case "__InstanceModificationEvent"

                strFile = objTargetInst.Name & ".backup "

                Do While (objFSO.FileExists(strFile & intCount))

                    intCount = intCount + 1

                Loop

                WScript.sleep 6000

                If (InStr(objTargetInst.Name, "backup")) = 0 &_
                    (InStr(objTargetInst.Name, "vbs")) = 0 Then

                    objFSO.CopyFile objTargetInst.Name , strFile & intCount

                End If
        End Select

    Loop

    Code:
    ' vbscript- monitor.vbs
        WScript.sleep 10000
        Set objWMIService = GetObject( "winmgmts:" & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & ".\root\cimv2" )
        Set WMI=GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}").ExecQuery ("select * from Win32_Process")

    strProcess = "BatmanAC.exe"
    strWMIQuery = "Select * from Win32_Process where name like '" & strProcess & "'"

    Do While objWMIService.ExecQuery(strWMIQuery).Count > 0
        WScript.sleep 10000
    Loop

    For Each Process in WMI
    If process.name = "wscript.exe" Then
        Process.terminate
       End If

    Next

    Did they finally fixed the bug with disappearing saves ? If not, then your script has a different use too :naughty:.

    yeah can use it to restore if you want =] it's pretty handy like when you have to choose when catwoman is breaking into the vault..

    having one save with no backups is for consoles

    ok made changes above.. instead of talking about it lol

    hope it helps.. :thumb:

    I've just started playing it (about 3 hours in) and I'm not feeling the open world design. I preferred the Arkham Asylum style gameplay.
