I've just spent the last few days refreshing the battery on my 15" powerbook.

I used to get only 20 minutes battery out of it before it would go into sleep, now I get well over two hours.

    Here's how to do it.

Firstly, charge the battery until the light on the charger goes green, then turn it off. Unplug the charger and switch it on, hold down CMD + OPTION + O + F to go into Open Firmware.

    Then type

    reset-nvram <enter>
    reset-all <enter>

The powerbook will power cycle and boot.

Then let the battery completely discharge (So it goes to sleep, leave it for a few hours sleeping, charger still obviously disconnected).

Then, plug the charger back in, and repeat the Open Firmware step.

Do this a few times untill you're happy with the new battery life.

You can check your battery status using a program called Coconut Battery.

Interesting, thanks for sharing that! :) My powerbook still last a few hours, but I'll keep this in mind (look for this thread) when I need too.

    Thanks
