Not watched the trailer yet as i'm on my netbook, but from the previous screens and teasers, i have very little say regarding it other than, DO WANT!!!

Loved BF2, was disappointed with BC, BFBC2 was a vast improvement on BC. But i have faith in Dice.

No I am not joking. Here's a thought, if you are so into it and intrigued by it then why don't you get off you soft ass and come on over here and sign up. The U.S. military is always looking for suckers to head off to foreign lands and kill brown people. I would know.

It's one thing to have a game be about "war" and killing and have fantasy elements and such to it. It's also ok to have historical war games IMO but to have a game with current conflict zones where real soldiers are killing and dying is just beyond the pale. We can't even wait for the real killing to stop before we make a movie or a god-damned game out of it these days. I find the unthinking and uncaring disassociation ****ing disgusting.

I am not up on FPS really but there is nothing to set this apart you say? Like having the "Ops" at the Iran/Iraq border? That has been a constant theme? Why not just center the game around the battle of Fallujah? Or has that already been accomplished by some fun game?

    haha, well said. blink.

but surely you are starting with the wrong game? go and complain to Activision and that team who made Medal of Honour.

this is an arcade multiplayer shooter to play for fun, it is not aimed at accurately simulate warfare.

this is the reason i dislike idea of singleplayer. some people will fixate on the average singleplayer experience and miss out on possibly the best multiplayer experience to bless human kind.

when people say BF2, they know it's multiplayer only and it gives great pleasure for the multiplayer Battlefield moments. when people say BF3, some may think of the medicore singleplayer, not the amazing multiplayer moments.

I probably am "starting" with the wrong game. But then, as I said, I am not really up to speed on first person shooter war games. This is the first one I have watched any video on really. I admit that the graphics and gameplay elements look great from a technical standpoint but, for someone who has been there and remembers it well enough, the idea that we make war games out of increasingly more current and specific events and places just floors me and I think it says something about not only the creators but also those who would play the thing without really considering the real world connections.

When i think of BF2 i think of bunny hopping, base raping and "WTF" accuracy from the guns. I also think why can't i skip the EA and Dice logo vids and why is it taking forever to load this map? BFBC2 is **** too from the 40 odd mins i've played of it before uninstalling.

    I HATE BATTLEFIELD GAMES!

blink, to most people war is just somthing that happens on the news. Most people (including me) if they are really honest don't give a second thought to what goes on. Out of sight out of mind.

Do you count WW2 games as historical? So someone suffering 60 years ago is less important then someone's suffering now? If so I don't really get that logic. Either all games about war within living memory are acceptable, or non are. I know WW2 is long over, but there are many alive today that are still in someway negatively affected by the horrors of that era.

FWIW, appreciate you and anyone else that goes to serve and so should everyone else, it's the volunteers that keep the draft at bay and I never forget this. I imagine a majority of the users on this forum would not cope to well in a real world combat situation and we can't all be controlling the UAV's, heh.

You can delete or rename the EA\Dice Logo videos from C:\Program Files\EA Games\ folder or where ever it has been installed to. This will let the game launch straight into the EA login page, just don't delete or rename the menu videos. Infact, probably better off just renaming them to *.old

Slow old hard drive or PC I suspect, BF2 load times where pretty much the highest around at the time of release. The only thing that annoyed me was when switching between Vanilla/SF it had to optimise shaders each time, getting stuck at 62% for frickkin ages. Although these days it shouldn't be a problem with a faster PC/HDD/SSD

Hey Blink, if you have a problem with war games then why are you in here reading about the BF3 reveal in the first place? Me for example I hate world or warcrap games so never read a single article about them and never comment on them. Simples :)

I hope you haven't tried ARMAII as that will really blow your mind because it's a full blown Mili-Sim rather than FPS.

SMIFFYDUDE - like what B1GBUD said it's probably your hardware or your net connections, rounds load for most people in under 30 seconds? Gives you time to open another beer or have a pee. Anything faster would be too much lol.
