On bit tech if you type F....T......W with no spaces it changes it to cheesecake. No idea why, but I actually typed cheesecake myself
I'd second binning "F.T.W. = Cheesecake". Gets on my nerves, especially when trying to link to certain cards from EVGA
Perhaps we should petition EVGA to rename their top tier air-cooled cards the Cheesecake edition, and then ban use of the acronym across the entire internet, punishable by evisceration.
Sorry, but no. ITX is fully capable of building fantastically powerful rigs, all in a pint size package. My EVGA Hadron is absolutely tiny, even compared to the Prodigy, yet I can cram a Titan in there no problem, coupled with a full-fat CPU and a high end motherboard. The only thing you can't do is SLI/Crossfire, but if all you're after is single card then I'd argue that ITX is the way forward. PCs simply do not need to be as big as they are - generally there is a lot of wasted space, particularly once you leave mATX territory and go to ATX. In short, don't hate on ITX because it is small.
Itx systems are fun to build, and more than sufficient for none SLI cfx builds. They also take up very little space making them pretty good as htpc boxes. Only thing they struggle slightly with is gpus that do not exhaust there air out the back of the case. Most stock spec nvidia cards do this though hence you see a lot of them in custom itx builds. All in one water cooling loops are also used a lot if people are pushing systems. Asus make one of the best itx boards on the market at the moment. The rog Maximus impact. Itx builds are what you see most LANs with people showing off there overclocks and mods that they have made for them.
All I can say is I'm still happy with the rig in my sig. It does every thing I need and want it to do including running 2VM's while in windows. I can still play games in 3D and I enjoy doing it.
Ahahahaahahahahaa. Really? I remember picking up a copy of CustomPC about a month ago that showed readers how to build a high performance ITX system. I'd argue that SLI or Crossfire is the minority.
I suspect that Andy doesn't rate ITX for gaming builds purely because it's one area where AMD doesn't offer an alternative to Intel, as previously discussed in this very thread.
The minority are the people who build their own PCs and overclock etc. The minority of that is some one that wants a tiny little PC. I didn't mean it in a bad way, but I bet if you did a survey on here you would be in the minority.
My last few rigs. Here is my current one. The one before that. Note - the window has been changed to neon pink as I'm building into it for my lovely lady The one before that. (that's GTX 480 SLI). And the one before that. Do I look like the sort of person who would want a tiny little PC? I did have a second rig that was quite small - But I would never go small again. I ran my 480s in that ^ and a pair of 295s in Quad SLI and it was an absolute nightmare.
Yep, you're stuck in the 90s. I remember those days - I had a Chiefec Dragon full tower, in bright blue, full of blue LED fans and obnoxious yellow rounded IDE cables. I then matured a bit, and had a Lian Li in black brushed aluminium...with blue LED fans. These days it's all about mATX and ITX. Why pay for space in a case you don't use, PCIe slots that are never filled and drive bays that are never occupied? When you can put 3TB on a single HD why do you need 8 bays? When a single GPU does an excellent job of powering our current resolutions why do you need SLI/Crossfire? Sure, things used to be different - you needed multiple 500GB HDs because you could fill them easily, and 1920x1200 used to tax your little GTX 275 a bit too much. These days, not so much. Just because you don't like ITX doesn't mean it isn't becoming rather popular - ditto mATX.
It's not that I don't like it per se, it's just totally not for me at all. I'm not stuck in the 90s, I just like having lots of GPU power. I was running 3D for ages and going against the grain I thought it was bloody marvellous. Sadly you need an awful lot of GPU grunt and until things like Titan you needed more than one GPU to do it with. I'm now going to be going back to 3D, given we just bought a 40" 200hz TV. I canna fookin wait ! Good thing I kept the 670s really, 3D on AMD is absolutely terrible.
