You can choose your Fov in the full game. See video posted by Redbeaver.

This game is fantastic and feels like the BF2:2 that I've been waiting for.

I have sniped the gunner and driver out of the apache before, but thats only happened a few times out of many shots so possible.

In that video they said they have native support for 16:9 and 4:3... does that mean they don't have 16:10? Or is that just a given?

Most of the 50 cal fixed gun emplacements are quite handy for this and the heli gunner has to reload very often - much more so than previous BF games where you can just hold the trigger down and mow down everyone.

This can be annoying, but if you (and hopefully a friend or two) change the standard pistol for a tracer pistol; after a bit of practice it is quite possible to tag the Apache on a regular basis. Once it's tagged, take out the stinger, get a lock, lead the chopper and fire. One hit from a locked stinger can be enough to take it out.

The ability to get a lock from a hand held stinger is one of the biggest improvements made.

    I can't wait for friday's release.

Really looking forward to this game. Loved the beta and it sounds like the single player will be good too.

The only thing I missed from the beta was lack of prone, as already mentioned, still I guess you can't have everything - roll on Friday.

seems like massive respect for DiCE then! This one was flying around well under my radar, but i will definitely be picking it up now, I feel like a nob head for not getting involved with the beta.

If it was called Battlefield 3 i would've been all over it though... funny what's in a name...

I can see MW2 players needing to find new hosts more often soon. lol

BF3 it is not, but it does bode very well and a welcome distraction. :)

BF2142 was a great game. Gibralatar map on a 32 player server - epic win. So much detail in that map. Very replayable.

Also enjoying BC2 a lot. Been playing BF since 1942 and this is a fun game for me.

@sniping: that's *IF* they can see the wall in front of me :)

@64; 32 may feel large, but once you have a taste of 64 (like Karkand on a busy, no vehicle, nights), u can tell the difference.

@planes: the superiority of jet planes are abit overpowered, i agree. but knowing what to do when ur airborne and not getting killed before getting into one... i think it somewhat balance its firepower.
looking at BC2, things seem to be a little *too* even. infantry can target slow-moving tanks and throw a heatseeking missile? BC2 should make getting into a tank much harder, but staying alive in one should be just as rewarding.

epic indeed. BC2 looks promising and it does plays great... but it lacks the *epic* touch IMHO.... and thats one of the major reason why MW2 is "meh" in my eyes....

I have nothing but bad memories of the jets and was glad to see the back of them. A great pilot in a jet would kill a server just as surely as a power cut. If that can happen, that somebody playing well with the tools at their disposal, can basically knacker the game from the point of view of the other thirty one players on the server then something is wrong. Also fixed wing aircraft are a bit like bringing a chainsaw to a game of tiddlywinks in terms of how they balance what is basically a platoon level scrap.

Bad Company 2, at least in terms of how it relates to the original Battlefield 2, appears to be following the same design trend as Mass Effect 2 and Napoleon Total War, which is doing less but doing it better, and it seems to work.

The only DX11 feature in the game is soft shadows, but it looks good enough as it is :)

The Frostbite 2 engine (not used in BC2) supposedly implements more in the way of DX11 features.

Excellent review and coming from the beta, I have to agree.

    Some observations:

The game has what I consider to be a good balance. If you know what you are doing as Recon, tanks are your candy. The same can be said in reverse, though I have noticed way too many people taking a sniper approach to using armored vehicles...and losing the match for their team in the process.

The only vehicle with a huge advantage is the Apache...and it should be this way. You only get one at a time and its an armored helo. They can be taken down with heavy machine gun fire, or a very good sniper(I had a great time one evening with a like-minded fellow testing the limits of the Recon class.), or the drone (hehe), or even a 120mm tank shell (lucky shot). Honestly though, if you are doing your job instead of holding your ground, the Apache is far less of a problem.

The sound is phenomenal. I have yet to use my good headphones in the game, but even so the depth of the sound really helps you feel completely immersed. Sniper shots whistle by. Distant gunfire takes on a staccato effect. Heavy artillery and explosions nearby drown out your hearing with a ringing, muted effect. Your squad mates yell out all sort of humorous (and gratuitous) one-liners as they are fighting.

I was very impressed with the beta and going in I didn't know if I would be. It takes slogging though a little bit of noobishness to find your pace and tactics suited to your gameplay style. It isn't MW2 and folks going in looking for the highest k/d will find themselves near the bottom of the table when the endgame is shown.

    See you on the Battlefield.

Hated Battlefield 2, my list of complaints with it goes on and on and on. Can't get past that, so won't buy this. I feel so alone.
