sounds like a bit of a quickly thought out idea, to me cos I can't see it working as the position of the tray will mean you only have a small amount of space to put the pots etc. anyway you can wire a push to make switch, or no latching toggle switch to the drive pcb, and place that switch where ever you want and use that to open close the drawer, basicaly move the switch that open's the drawer. personaly i would wire it you to an remote system and open it via remote. if i were to sleath a bay bus i would have it like the flip down car radios.
